My 2 year old soon to be 3 loves the movie Nemo. Well last week she was watching it and it started jumping and she looked at me and said mom its squatched (scratched). So i told her its o.k. we will go get another one. So that week we get to Best Buy to get her one and we get ready to pay for and i run into a friend of mine. Well we get to talking and my baby looks at us, and my friend has a stturring problem and then my baby bust out with "mom" "mom" i said "what" she turned to me and pointed and said "she squatched".

It is very cute, the person who commented first, get off your high horse. She is 3. You were that age once, and I am sure you made mistakes. It is part of the learning curve we all go through, and helps us develop as people.

If anyone can be hurt and upset by something a 3 year old needs a reality check, unless it is something parrotted from the parents, then the parents need the discipling, not the children!

You have a smart child!

I think making the association between the person, and the movie was intelligent. I don't think there is anything to "hate", be "embarassed" by, or anything negative. To be honest with you my daughter is older than her and there are words she still has trouble saying them. I mentioned it to her pedatrician and he says we'll keep an eye on it. If it continues when she starts school it maybe possible that she may need a speech thereapist. That is nothing to be embarassed by either; help is better than ignoring it.
By the way, the movie Nemo is real cute!!!!!!!

Kids do say the darndest things...and they can sometimes be embarrasing. My daughters have taken a point to point out things like fake legs etc....do I think it is cute? No....but I do use it as a learing experience for my girls. It is a way for me to teach them that everyone is different and you should never talk about people or point out the things that are different. Even though 3 is still young it is never too early to start. You would be surprised what their little minds understand!

When we were waiting for my son to arrive, my mother-in-law gave me some advice - she told me:
"Not everyone will love your baby the way you do - just remember that".
I thought that was the oddest thing for a grandmother to say - but after my son did something (I thought) was cute, and I got the reaction like your getting - I thought of what my mother-in-law said to me and I got it!
Your baby is probably adorable and enjoy her every minute and whatever she may say but keep it between you and your family and tell your children how smart and beautiful they are always!!
Good Luck to you and your family!

Oh man! Kids come up with the craziest of things!!

I don't understand why the comotion. If it was a close friend of mine I know she'd not be offended. She'd just laugh along with it knowing kids say the darnedest things.

If it was a stranger...then I'd be mortified ;)

It's definitely cute at her age and also a GREAT opportunity to start teaching her about other's feelings...not a huge lecture, just a comment about how she may be sad that she said that and that next time, she should wait to ask a question about other people's features.

smart little girl--she quickly associated the scratched movie with the sounds of a person with a speech impediment. My little boy at that age told this lady "my, wh. a long neck u have" and she did. It embarassed me to no end though. LOL
