My daughter is 13 months old and we just started her immunizations at one year of age (our pediatrician was fine with it). Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, I have to return to work in september, meaning my daughter will have to enter day care at that time. (She will be 19 months old). I am wondering if I will have trouble getting a day care to accept her since her immunizations were begun a year late?

It really shouldn't be a problem but as you know some people are very strict in their beliefs and may try to make it hard for you. When looking for a daycare ask 2 things--1, what are the MINIMUM required vaccines, and 2, Do you allow parents to sign a health, religious, or personal conviction waiver for immunizations.
The typical minimum is
1 DPT
1 OPV
1 MMR
1 HIB
1 HEP
Which I would think your child will have the minimum by the time you put her in daycare.
I hope this helps!

Here's the deal. *PRIVATE* daycare has the right to exclude any child for any reason, they are a private business and can institute any rules they want.
*PUBLIC* institutions have to follow the law, and every state and most countries at the least have a medical exemption, all you need is a note from your doctor saying it was medically advisable to wait until 1 year (which is true and your doc should be ok saying so. I am delay vaxing too -- maybe though I am waiting until age two and my son just turned one). Most states have religious or philisophical objections, if they do it is as easy as filling out a form as no one can question your religious beliefs, nor require you to prove them.
So the bottom line: Call around and I am sure you will be able to find care for your daughter that comforms to your beliefs and will accept her. Obviously there is more to finding a good day care then whether they take un/partially vaxed kids. There are discipline styles, menu, policies, etc. (Personally I would never leave my son places that spray certain cleaners on toys and do not wash it off).
Good luck and good for you for making a thoughtful choice about vax. It may be right or wrong(I wish I knew), but at least you tried to make the best decision for your family. You're a great mom.

This is one of those things that may partially depend on where you live - I know that not all states have the exact same requirements regarding immunizations. Check with your state dept. of health to be sure, they are usually the overseeing authority for daycare centers.

Well it does depend on if you go to a private, in home care or if you take her to a "public" high volume daycare.
I think if you are showing that you are making an effort to get your child "caught" up, most providers wouldn't have an issue with it.
The only vaccines you might need to concern yourself about getting soon is the chicken pox and MMR.... seeing as both are highly contagious, almost eliminated childhood diseases.
Most private day care providers are NOT going to have problems with it, and I actually prefer this to a Kindercare situation.
Your child has more one to one interaction in a private home

As long as you can document that she is getting the vaccines and will be caught up as soon as possible, the daycare should accept her. She should be almost caught up by that time anyway, since the primary vaccines can be given 7-8 weeks apart.

OK here's my experience when my daughter was entering JK we had lost her immunization record while moving.
The school suggested we go back to the doctor so we did he gave her a fresh dose of vaccines and it was only 2
shots, gave me a immunization record and that was that.
Hope I have helped!
