My four year old son just swallowed a coin. When I asked him to show me which kind it was, he pointed to the quarter. He seems to be fine and is running around playing. Do I need to take him to the local clinic to get checked out?

suddenly feel that the cat or dog that they have loved and nourished for years must be abandoned? I see this so often and it breaks my heart. You made a commitment when you adopted that pet and now it is thrown out like day old trash. I am not trolling or looking to stir up trouble, I just don't understand this....

My friend and I were having a debate about this. Legally at 18 you are considered an adult. Before that you have parents or a legal guardian, who has authority over you. Therefore, if you give birth before the age of 18, should you be forced by law to give up your legal rights?

How is it that someone can legally be responsible for a baby/child when they legally still have parents and guardians themselves?

If you are under that age of 18 and do not have a high school degree, than should you not be allowed to have a child?

If you can't take care of yourself legally, how are you going to take care of a child? For example: If you are 16 and in a car accident, your parents have the right to determine your medical care. You have say, but legally your parents make the final decision. If you can't legal make these decisions, should you be caring for a baby?

I believe that baby born to children under the age of 18, should be placed in the care of someone that is over

Every child in my family, immediate and extended, have had great home lives and lots of opportunities except fo these young girls. They are 9th & 10th graders and a lot of responsibility I know, but I am willing to have them come live with me. I can apply for AFDC for their expenses and that would be more than enough for their clothes, food, etc, and even some for a savings account for each.

My mother says I'm crazy for considering, but I really hate to see these young girls fall into the system. But I'

I brought up four boys on my own and have three grandsons (by my eldest) and they do not want any more children,
What chance is there of having a grandaughter by my others and does it depend on the sex of their wives/girlfriends' siblings?
I desperately want a grandaughter even though I love my grandsons to bits.
Best wishes,
Joan.

does anyone else feel uncomfortable burping your child on their bare back? I feel as if I am hitting her rather than burping her. I will either put a recieving blanket around her back and then burp, or i will seriously put clothes on her just to burp her (we live in Arizona, it is very hot so she is often in only a diaper when inside...). Am I the only crazy one?

A woman accidentally overdosed her 3 year old baby on cold medicine. When she realized what she did she placed the body in a garbage bag and threw it out in a trash bin. I understand that tragic things happen parents make mistakes, but how can you throw a baby out in a garbage can? I might understand if this was a newborn and she was postpartum depressed or had not yet bonded with the child. But this is a 3 year old that had already said a dozen times “mommy I love you” and cried in her shoulder when he was upset. If anyone can explain to me how a mother can throw out a body of a child, of her child, into a garbage can like it was trash I would be grateful.

I have a 16 month old daughter and I am 11 weeks pregnant. Sometimes I wonder if I should have waited to become a mother because I see others doing things I would love to do...

I love my daughter more than i can express and she isn't a bad child... I just wonder sometimes...

Is this normal? I feel bad enough about it anyways, so please don't be mean.

Oh, I am 22, married for 2 years, an RN, and I dated my husband for 7 years before we married. :)

what is your opinion on this idea? dont you think its better to stop single teenagers from getting pregnant by forcing state sponsored abortions on them, because this way we can stop a whole generation of criminals and dysfunctional people from being born, and help make society a better place to live...or not? what do you think?

I'm 19(Yvette).My parents were killed from the people who kidnapped me and my sister Alayna(age 11).That happened 8 months ago. There was another child,Raylie, age 12 now.The assailants kept us for more than half an year, raping us every day and humiliating us.A month ago we managed to escape, let the police 'take care' of those animals.Foster care helped us but since I'm 19,they gave us a small house to live in for a few years. We moved last week.Everything has been so...fast happening...I'm pregnant in 8 month and so are my sister and the other girl(somewhere in 8th month are we all).I have no idea what to do.I have found an internet job but I don't know how to handle everything else, what to do with the girls...If anyone ready to give any advice I'd appreciate.I'm really confused and just...need a lot of advice. Please, help!

My son is 3, and since we recently had a newborn baby he has started playing up bigtime and I can't control him. My wife remains clam at all times but I can't, I get really angry and roar and shout and this makes him worse, he gives as good as he gets.

I smack him if he does something wrong but it does no good whatsoever, he will go straight back and do it again or he'll also hit you back.

He is causing arguements between me and the wife, I'm at the end of my teather, I don't know how to control him.

Any advice?

A bunch of us were talking over on the vegan and vegetarian board, and we were wondering. With all the problems with child obesity today and the obvious cruelty of all forms of meat eating. Why would any responsible parent allow their child to eat meat?

I am a single mom, never married his father but have always provided for my son. He has always been a great kid and pretty much still is but he is my one and only child and Im so frustrated with the attitude and behavior. He is already showing signs of puberty and maturity so I'm thinking he's "In that stage" right now. Dealing w/his dad is frustrating enough but to deal with your child who's acting like a clone of him is more aggravating. Im pretty laid back and was a" no problem child" for my mom but he's different. I will admit that schedules and tight structure have not been always a part of the routine but for the most part I have instilled disipline, Is it too late to make structure a part of his life & become a more disiplined parent even though hes gotten used to to things this far in his life. I need advise as to what i can do as a parent to change and make a difference in my sons future as an adult.

i have a 3 yr old son who has been thru a lot. not only that but in a loy of way hes just like me. he gets into everything and helps with everything and fixes everything.he listens sometimes and not sometimes. he takes his mother less serious.he raises his hand to us when we go to give him a spanking on his diaper. i know this is common. a lot of people were telling me to break his will and make sure i spank him good. and now is the age to do it. i need to just spank him a couple of times but dont leave a mark.

i dunno the awnser.
my dad just hit about 10 times , every time , any where he could.and i was fighting him all the way. stubborn headed but also my dad always took it to extremes.half the time though he was loving and caring and nuturing.i know i dont want that for my son but i dont want him to end up in jail either.i talk to him and teach him things all the time and i try to watch his diet. my son has no kids to play with at the house. only at the park,we go 5 times aweek
