A woman accidentally overdosed her 3 year old baby on cold medicine. When she realized what she did she placed the body in a garbage bag and threw it out in a trash bin. I understand that tragic things happen parents make mistakes, but how can you throw a baby out in a garbage can? I might understand if this was a newborn and she was postpartum depressed or had not yet bonded with the child. But this is a 3 year old that had already said a dozen times “mommy I love you” and cried in her shoulder when he was upset. If anyone can explain to me how a mother can throw out a body of a child, of her child, into a garbage can like it was trash I would be grateful.

HI, This is a very sad story. I can't imagine any mother doing something so horrible to her own child. For God Sakes, if a child can't even trust their own mom then they can't trust anyone. She should of called 911 for help and tried to save her child. At least then people would of known it was really an accident. What she did has cost her,her fredoom but it cost the child's life. Just a sad sad story.

There is no explanation. The only thing I can think of is that just because you can have children doesn't mean you're cut out to be a parent. Even if it was a newborn and the mother couldn't bond with the child or was depressed, that is still not an excuse. It is still murder -- taking the life of a human being. It shouldn't be all right because it was your child. If families were closer, mothers might have someone to call who can give them a break if they're not able to handle it. Some areas have places where you can just give up your child with no questions asked, such as hospitals and fire stations. Perhaps as a society we are being dehumanized by all the brutality and violence we see in the movies and on television and sometimes in our own homes and at school. I'm sorry I can't give you a good answer because there really isn't one. Really.

All I can think of is that she was in shock because her child died and she was not thinking clearly in what she was doing. If someone has never lost a child they don't know how devastating it is. I lost a baby girl last year and fell into a deep depression, but I was lucky enough to realize that I had a problem and get help.

i am going a different route here on this one

of course over the counter meds are powerful!!!

this is what our medicine obsessed american society doesn't understand about this the crap!....ppl die EVERYDAY from over the counter meds

i have heard of cases like this numerous times actually....not throwing your child in the trash but parents or babysitters overdosing the children

this is a word of caution to everybody to everybody when it comes to medications....THEY ARE DRUGS

big pharma has a huge influence in our country and we are brainwashed enough to believe what they say

and yes any mother that is that removed from her maternal instincts has to be mentally ill

very sad

I can't give you an explanation, nor would I want to try to justify why a parents could do something so horrible. I just wanted to say that I have often thought about that myself. And how people can rape little babies. I read about a man raping his 7 month old niece, and it just makes me sick. I try not to, but the screaming and crying... it honestly makes me glad that the United States has the death penalty!

Who knows what her explanation is but my first guess was that she was in shock. To have killed your baby would be something unbearably ground shaking... I would think that she would worry about what ppl who do or say, who would find out, how she could explain this, the trouble she may get in, guilt, fear, remorse, and self preservation. If not this I would think that there is just something very wrong with her and that maybe she did it on purpose... who knows, right?

the only thing i can figure is that they are afraid someone will think they did it on purpose if they come forward.

but to me i am more skeptical when they hide their mistakes by throwing the baby away.

i don't see how anyone could OD a kid on cold medicine either though, all you have to do is read the package and it tells you how to give it. or call a doctor.

First of all it doesn't sound like an accident to me. I won't even give them an excuse and say mental illness. I think that the person is a selfish, self absorbed, child murderer!
