Kate M is talking about Humphreys #3. It works by soothing the pain of teething. You give your son 3 pellets (thats what they are, small white pellets that dissolve instantly) every couple of hours or so. I used to use that with Baby Orajel, because my son's teeth came out all at once, so he was in a lot of pain, but when I medicated his gums with the Orajel and gave him the Humphreys, he was fine. He never did like teething rings lol. This is what the bottle looks like:

I am not sure exactly what you have tried, but you can get some orajel (spelling) and just put it on his gums. This will help some of the discomfort. They also make teething rings that are filled with liquid and you put them in the refrigerator. If a hole develops from chewing do not panic as it is filled with sterile water. Throw it away and get a new one. Infant Motrin or tylenol helps immensely too. The tylenol will also help with fever as well as the pain. If he has fever and diahrrea make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids (I am sure you know).

My eight month old is going through the same phase. She too is peevy and restless most of the times.

I have got her half a dozen small teethers that she likes to chew upon. I store three of them in the fridge overnight and give her those, next morning. I usually apply Oragel to her gums in the night. You may also want to try some baby crackers that infants like to chew upon.

I try to hold her in my arms more frequently these days and take her for frequuent walks outside. She tends to get engrossed in the people and objects around and temporarily "forgets" about her discomfort.

I'd suggest you go to your nearest health food store and ask for Arrowroot. When you get home, peel it and cut a thin wide peice for your child to chew on. Yes,it's edible and the sap will not only ease the pain, but it will make the child's gums and teeth stronger.
