I am a stay at home mommy not only by choice but stay at home by default as well. I was in a terrible car accident 3 years ago that left me with nerve damage in my right arm and unable to work. I struggle with certain things and do house work at my own pace but ALWAYS, ALWAYS my home is spotless and little boy is healthy and happy. My husband works a good job, but financally we have been taken to our knees from my accident. (Still in litigation with the insurance company of the Tractor Trailer truck that hit me) I know that there is much stress in our marriage dealing with finances. Before the accident we always had. Now - we make it, but struggle. It just seems that my husband has no clue nor cares how hard I work making our house a home and raising our son. He comes home, does yard work occassionally and watches tv. Never really does anything to help, just tells me when 'the dryer went off'... or my son has a dirty diaper. He seems self-centered since my accident. Help?

The world is so filled with sickos and predators that I am afraid for small children today. I am only 31 and it wasn't that long ago that I was a small chld myself outside playing, but the world has changed drastically since then. I cringe everytime I see a young child outside playing alone.
Last week my god son's mother was about to send her 6 year old son to her car by himself with the keys to get something out of the backseat. I fussed at her because I didn't feel that this was safe. They live in an apartment complex and who knows what kind of sickos could be out there lurking waiting for a child with keys in hand to snatch and take away. She listened to me and escorted him out to the car but what if I wouldn't have been there? Do you think it is ok for young child to be outside alone?? Am I too paranoid?? All insite and opinions welcomed on this one.

Please do not be rude, just tell me what you think about this honestly? If the family can do well with one income should mom get a job just so that she isn't doing household chores all day. I am talking about women who keep house and cook and run around with their kids not Oprah watchers who sit on the sofa all day.

I have 3 kids 12 11 and 8, I love my kids with all my heart, and make sure they know that, and the world knows it. My kids are my life, I'm a little over protective but I feel in this day and time I have to be, I don't spank my children as they don't give me a reason to spank them, they do get grounded over somethings, people complicate on how good they are, they've never gotten in trouble at school. I was blessed with really good kids, I feel like people think I'm just trying to be better than them, but I just really love being a mom and I have actually found when people are talking about there kids doing something wrong and I show up they stop talking, even to the point of making excuses to leave. I don't feel that I judge them. and I refuse to be a bad parent to fit in with a crowd, is it wrong for me to talk about my children help

Should parents be held responsible for their children's actions? Should society punish criminals or try to re-educate them?

Mine is happening right now. He is at the table declaring he will not eat tea. I am over his fussiness (he is 8). He has been sitting for 30 minutes so far. He has even volunteered to have his mouth washed out with soap to get out of eating. he has offered up giving up all his after school activities(which he loves). Havn't had a time like this with him since he was little. He has always been fussy but he had gotten better, or so I thought. So this screaming fit of his has prompted me to ask....what is the biggest battle you have had with your child and at what age?

Ok, I need to know if my soon to be Ex-Brother-In-Law is messing with my sister to get more money from her. He says that their son has just been diagnosed with Stage 2 Autism with ADD. I try to look up info on that on the web to try to see if there was anything I could do to help.......And could find nothing. Is there really Stage 2 Autism with ADD?? or is her soon to be Ex once again trying to get even more money from her??

My partner had a one night stand with one of his friends 2months before he and I started dating. ONe month into our relationship I found out she was pregnant and I decided to support him when he told me she was going to keep the baby and he wanted to be apart of the childs life. It has taken awhile for the reality of the situation to sink in and now I am freaking out! I'm not sure my partner realises what he is getting in to either and I wonder how the four of us (baby, mother, my man and myself) will work it all out. Are there any books about theses types of situations? All the book I have found are about divorced parenting or raising your child when you are in a happy relationship... I can't find anything relevant to our situation. Does anyone have any advice??? (PS We are all in our early 20s)

And, how much jail time have you served? ;-)

Also, if you were not spanked, how did your parents teach you to behave?

He is 26 and is currently living at home and refuses to get a job because he is always "busy" writing screenplays. I told him to go get a job and to do that as a hobby on the side but he tells me if he gets a job he'll have no time to write. I don't want to tell him that he will probably never sell his scripts but I don't know what to do! Any ideas?

ok so since around the 80's spanking died out, now some people beleive that spankings breed violent criminals and time outs are the best method...what do you think is going happen in the next 50 years? I really think psychologists are going to come up with something like " giving a child time outs can lead them to a mental institute and having other psycholigical problems after spending so much time staring at a wall or taking away some things will make the child too possesive and selfish in the future

I'm not isnulting anti spankers and i'm not aplauding pro spankers, and please no pro or anti spanking psychobabble

I have told him twice to stop it. My child is 11 has ADD and anxiety problems. Give me something to give to him or something that tells him how terrible it is. He thinks he is going to toughen him up that way.

Wow, I have the worst kids in the world who live next to me. I rent at a townhouse complex and I have had the neighbors children cuss me out time and time again, these kids are only 7 and 10 years old and they are constantly causing problems. My children ages 9,7,5 are always being threatend by this boy and I heard him one day telling my 9 year old that he was going to cut her up with knives, I asked him very nicely not to speak that way to my kids and he told my to F*off its a free country. I no longer can let my kids play outside because of him. I am terrified to talk to this kids parents about it because another one of my neighbors confornted them about it and that night their car was vandalized! What do I do? Do I call the police?

I have a day care in my home and one of the families I work with removed their child from my care to enroll her in the private school they had been on the waiting list for. Yay, good for them. The child was a terror, loved her, but a complete terror. And the mother was completely inconsiderate and pushed my policies to the absolute limit, especially the health policy. She was always bringing her child when she was sick, even to the point of everyone in the day care, including myself, getting the flu. I called her yesterday to see how the new school was going and she said they had been home sick 3 days within the last two weeks. It was all I could do not to laugh and tell her "What goes around, comes around". Isn't it great?! I'm sorry the child has been sick, but I feel like this mom as gotten what she deserves. So let's hear 'em, what are some good "what goes around, comes around"s that you just laughed out loud about!?! Have fun with this!

My oldest daughter will be graduating from high school next year and has started to become interested in going to college in Italy. We are italian and speak some here and there at home, but I'm not sure if I would let her go.
I asked in the Italian section if my daughter would be accepted there as an American. All of them said yes and those Americans that they don't accept are military base. They claim they crowd the bars and drink too much. hmm.
Would you consider letting your child attend a university over seas, not just to study abroad?

kind of guilty. They are 12, 10 & 9 and very responsible & well behaved. (I'm not proud or anything!lol) I wish I could be there with them like my mom was, she was a teacher. Anyway, I hired Nanny McPaige, as they like to call her, 3 days a week to come from 11:00 to 5:00. She takes them to swim, park, bowling, rides in her convertable and so on. The other days they stay at home and can't go outside because it scares me too much. (We live on 5 acres, not in a sub-division) I bought them arts & crafts & games to play inside. They have a schedule of get up by 9:30, breakfast, chores, play, and lunch, whatever they want for the rest of the day till my husband gets home around 4:30.
Are any of you moms in the same boat? What are your feelings? Any advice?

Thanks to all you great moms out in yahoo land!

your job is a long distance from home? I want to move to Lancaster, Ca, but my job is in Downtown L.A. (I currently live in L.A.)I know that this commute is very common, but how do you handle your children being so far away while you are at work? What if there is an emergency? What if your kids are having wild parties while you're at work? What if, what if, what if.....? Is this something that I'm making too much out of and shouldn't worry? Parents, please share your experience in dealing with this type issue......Thanks!

I have a mommy friend who "knows it all" and is always recommending foods for me to feed my 16 month old daughter. They are often convenience foods that are filled with saturated and trans fats, and here on Yahoo, I have often seen people recommend mac and cheese as a toddler food. So are there any parents out there who think about the fats you're feeding your children, and do you choose other options?
