What ever you do, dont punish her, for one thing, she is doing this in her sleep. This sounds like she may have a bladder control problem, take her to the docter. Good Luck.

Some children are slower than other children in this area. It doesn't mean she has a medical problem so don't worry yourself. In addition to cutting off liquids at a certain time and going to the potty before bed, you will also need to wake her up at night and take her to the bathroom. I know it will be hard for both of you, but letting her lie there when you know she's going to wet the bed in the middle of the night is defeating the purpose. If you are a heavy sleeper, set an alarm for about 2:30 or 3:00 and just get her up. She will be so thankful that you put in this little extra effort, because it embarrasses her every time she wakes up in a wet bed. Do this for about a month and see the exciting results....it's worth it for her self esteem!!!

I have five nephews and they all wet the bed. Sometimes they have immature bladders and it takes them a bit longer than others. Another reason could be physciological. There might be something bothering her and for a child their bowels are the only thing that they have control over. Some children just sleep really heavy. One of my nephews did and his dad would get him up and get him to go. After awhile as he got older he just did it himself. The last thing I have is that she could have a medical condition. When I was a child I wet the bed till I was 6 because I had a bladder condition and could not control it. Getting your child a check up could either catch a condition early or at least put your mind at ease.

My son was a bad bed wetter. He's 6 now and only has accidents occationally. Not only do you make sure that she goes potty before bed but also, since she might just be a heavy sleeper, wake her up at about 11pm every night to have her go again. I know that sounds like a incovience, I know cause I went through it, but it sure did help. My son will now get up himself about that time to go to the bathroom. Also, use the good nites for older kids. Just in case.

Just wait it out. It's not something she's conciously doing or that she can control in any way.

If you can afford them, have her wear pullups until she's been dry every morning for a month. It will keep you from having to change sheets and let her have a little bit of comfort & dignity while she's waiting for her body to trigger night-time dryness.

After that, you might want to invest in some a plastic-coated mattress pad, for any further accidents as dryness becomes a certainty.

A couple of tricks that might help speed things up:

Wake her at midnight or 1am & have her try to go then. She may not actually go, but her body will think that she did, anyway.

Try to make sure she's not way too tired when she goes to bed - so exhausted that she sleeps through any urge she might have to get up and use the bathroom. Start having naptime during the day (if she doesn't still have one) and make sure she gets plenty of sleep every night.

Try a spoonful of peanut butter before bed. I've heard that that somehow helps to keep kids from wetting the bed. And, even if it's just an 'old wives tale', if your child *believes* it's going to work, it might just trigger something in her mind that will keep her dry all night.

They cannot help what they do while sleeping. My advice, buy the Good Nites and let her be, 4 is still very young and no big deal for night wetting. Do not shame her or get mad at her, people cant help talking in their sleep or snoring, well wetting is no different, they are asleep.
Relax about it, it will come in time.
I also want to add, that my daughter (6) does have bladder problems, but she does fine during the day (very small dribbles is all). Now do I want her on meds so she wakes up dry or just give her body a few more years, I think wait it out for a while.
And if people are nagging you just tell them to butt out, but don't bring it up in front of people because she cannot help it.

My sister used to wet the bed until she was 13. Most times the child can not control this situation because they have trouble controlling their bladder. Read the attached link it will help a million.

Have you seen the doctor about this? She may have some bladder control problems.

Other then that, I would maybe try setting an alarm that goes off half way through the night to get her to go to the bathroom.

You could also offer a reward, if she stays dry all night she gets (to go somewhere fun, etc).

When she goes the night dry, make sure you show her how happy and impressed you are.

I would seriously consider discussing this with your family doctor though, because my sister had some bladder problems when she was young that lasted many years.

Good luck!

Ok well try the plastic pants or pull ups cool alerts they really seemed to work for my son and even my daughter while potty trainning, it really helped but a peditrician has told me that before they go to bed make sure that they have no fluids 2 hours before bed time and to make sure that their little bladder is emptied

dont let her have drinks after dinner. have her go to the restroom right before bed, wake her up early and send her to the restroom first thing. if these things don't work, there may be a medical reason for bed wetting.

The Best thing to do is to keep her in Pull ups or a diaper until she learnes to grow out of it. Don;t punish them for it. the diaper or pull up will keep from having to wash the bedding all the time.
