I dont believe in lies at all. So why am I now lying to my 5 year old daughter? She is a very fussy eater, and it makes mealtimes very difficult. She will only eat Aunt Bessies Roast potatoes, so the other day, i did mashed potatoes and told her aunt bessie had made it. She ate it.

She also hates vegetables except for carrots. I did a stew and put swede in - i told her they were white carrots, and she ate them.

She loves noodles, but wont touch pasta, so i made some pasta and told her it was different shaped noodles, and she ate them.

Lying to her is making her eat different foods, and my mealtimes are a lot less stressful, but i feel terrible about lying to her. Am i doing the right thing or not? Will she ever forgive me, or will she never trust me again, and lose respect for me? I know she is only 5 years old, but kids are amazing what they remember.

I have read so many questions and answers on here stating that spanking is child abuse (which if done correctly it isn't) the same way as beating your spouse is domestic abuse. I feel this comparison is almost laughable. Aren't we as parents suppose to treat our children differently than our spouses? Aren't we suppose to teach them respect and teach them responsibility? I don't know about everyone else but I married a mature adult, not a toddler with an undeveloped brain.

So lets hear it people, when was the last time you had to put your spouse in a time out? When was the last time you had to take your spouses' toys away for bad behavior?

I'm a 32 year old stay at home dad. My wife got pre-eclapsia and had to deliver at 29 weeks. I sold out my business and did the back and forth from the hospital for 11 weeks. Mom and baby are fine now. I was just wanting to get some advise from some of you guys. Life, Love, Money, Health - You name it. I just wanted some input.

My son told me the other day he hates life. I asked him why he said nothing. Then he said he wants to kill himself by putting his finger in a light socked. I'm taking him to get help once a week. I just wanted to know if there is any ideas on how to take care of a kid like this.

Friday, my daughter went by a friends house right after school.
She never bothered to ask permission. We didn't find her till 6 o'clock. I grounded her for the weekend and my husband thinks I was too lenient with her. Was I?

What would you do if that were your daughter?

How do I help her deal with this? I know it is a common occurrence that when you get older you start pulling away from the friends that used to be your best, but she is devastated. This is my oldest (9), so this is the first time having to help her get through something like this...any suggestions from the pros out there?

My Dad told us stories that he invented and I told my son stories that I made up. I'm just wondering how many other folks do this; is it really common, or a family tradition enjoyed by only a few people?

I would like to throw a nice small family Birthday party for my 1st born son who's turning 1 in Feb. I'm going to invite my parents, my sister and brother + their kids and my husband parents, his three sisters and kids. So it's really about 17 people total. I need ideas for food and entertainment. I would like the food to be something all guest and the guest of honor can enjoy. The entertainment needs to follow along the same path. (By the way he only has two bottom teeth.) Oh, we want it to be held at our house. Ummm... his cousins range from 5 - 15 years of age. So do you have any ideas?

I just answered a question on gay parents adopting children.. I am curious to know what people on here think about polyamorous couples raising children. I guess i am mostly curious about what those who are in favor of gay couples raising children think, as I already know what all the other people are going to say.

I for one find no problem with it, just as i have no problem with gay couples adopting or having their own children through a surrogate parent.

I personally think that the child has been through enough. It has to deal with the reason that it has been adopted in the first place (parent's died, parent's were junkies e.t.c.), then it has to deal with the stress of actually being adopted and then it has to deal with having same sex parents.

It's too much for a child to handle.

My son has recently fallen into a bad crowd. He is spending alot of time with mean otters. They have made him start smoking and i'm worried he is doing drugs.

There have also been some severe mink beating in the area and i'm afraid this group could be behind it. There was even an elk mugged in broad daylight on my street yesterday.

I'm really worried, what should I do?

I'm not convinced that this 18 year old is genuine. She's almost 15. I've spoken to her, given her sensible guidelines. And she's always stuck to them. It's been going for for about two years now. I've got a mobile phone number. How do I track this guy down and see for myself that he's not a paedophile?
She's getting frustrated with my concern and is starting to cover up.

I am a Mother

To the outside world
I'm not a mother
I have no children clinging to my arm or running to greet me or throwing tantrums in supermarkets aisles
I'm not even a mother on paper
BUT I AM

In a silent world of “I love you's” and absent cuddles
My little one is
she'll always be my baby even as the years go by

She won't grow like other girls in height, strength and mind but she'll grow with love, that I can give even though she isn't in sight

So please don't think of me as a single or married woman but as a mother with a sleeping baby for that is what I am

My husband and I are expecting a baby in July. One of his friends that he has known for at least 8 years is (in my opinion) a horrible person. He drinks every day, drives drunk all the time, he gets stoned all the time. He's 40 something and we're in our 20's. He just got fired from his delivery driver job because he wasn't responsible enough to show up. He actually celebrated his one year after getting a DUI by getting drunk and then driving home. He is a burden to society and i do not want a person like that around my new child, regardless of whether he drinks or gets stoned in front of the kid. Its the character of a person that thinks those actions are ok that i don't want around my kid. My husband just won't let go of the friendship. He is a nice person, he's never been mean to me, always polite, but a hippie stoner drunk none the less. What should i do?
