My Dad told us stories that he invented and I told my son stories that I made up. I'm just wondering how many other folks do this; is it really common, or a family tradition enjoyed by only a few people?

My daughter loves it when I read books to her, and I have read to her since she was a little baby. Sometimes I use the stories in the books that we have read, but I change the names to names of people that we know, places that we know, events that we can relate to, etc. She loves these stories the best.

Also, sometimes I just make up stories, usually about her and things that she likes, or things she would like to do, etc. I think it is a great way to make their imaginations grow.

I do! My dad used to do it to us when we were kids. Long car rides, before bed, or just when ever. Its one of my fondest memories. My hubby had a daughter who is six and she asks me all the time to tell her stories. Its a special treat for her, as I can only think so hard and make up so many stories about a 6 year old little girl LOL. But yes, I make stories up!

My husband is in charge of bedtime in our house, but yes, he tells his daughter made up stories. Usually about forest animals and what they're "really" doing when us humans aren't watching. They're so much more fun than a regular old book that ends the same every single time!

My son loves the stories I make up! He has a very good imagination and I think this has helped his imagination grow. His favorite story is about the little boy who lived in a castle made of ice cream!

I've always done it. I have always read to my children, but I love telling tales to them. I keep doing it because I they seem to like it too. My Grandmother always told us stories, and I loved hearing them.

It's wonderful to see a child's eyes light up when they realize that they are the hero in the story!

that's the interest of adults to coach little ones to be sensible and efficient contributors of society. We tell little ones memories that lead them to afraid with the intention to teach them what's and is not any longer socially suitable. Take the story approximately how a wolf will consume you in case you lie. mum and dad choose their little ones to tell the actuality yet little ones generally lack the skill to comprehend why telling a lie is erroneous, so mum and dad charm to their maximum hassle-loose instincts to teach little ones the thank you to act staggering. As little ones enhance older they start to earnings why they shouldn't lie and those memories grow to be pointless. the story acts as a potential of discouraging habit that fogeys do no longer choose their little ones doing. little ones in basic terms do no longer comprehend why they shouldn't behave in a definite way and the story provides them an hassle-free reason until eventually they are sufficiently old to comprehend the authentic reason for themselves. memories for adults tend to be extra effective because of the fact as quickly as you get to be an grownup the questions you conflict with generally don't have solutions. a toddler has common issues, an grownup has complicated problems with out authentic answer. Adults tell one yet another effective memories because of the fact everybody has to handle the comparable component and no person is conscious the respond so all of us attempt to make one yet another experience extra advantageous approximately it.

We often make them up together. I'll make some up and then the kids will add to the story, taking turns.

I do it and my little girl loves it. I try to make them have a moral lesson and be entertaining at the same time.
