What size dresses do I need to stock and are ankle length white A line dresses the most popular? How much did you or are you about to spend on such a dress and what did you buy to complete the outfit?

Usually by the 2nd grade but I was late and actually had mine at age 12 with a few friends. After communion comes Confirmation which is usually at age 12-14. I know of a several children who are older than that and have yet to be confirmed due to moving and having to start over each time in their catechism courses. A fair age for communion would be 2nd-5th grade.
Prices usually start at around 100.00
Communion dresses are usually tea length to floor length
Matching apparel would include :
First communion shoes, gloves, handkerchiefs
First Communion Boleros
First Communion Capes

Girl's Accessories
Jewelry
Ceramony keepsakes
Purses and Purse Sets

Boys First Communion Apparel:
Double Breasted Suits
Single Breasted Suits
First communion Tuxedos

CONFIRMATION JEWELRY
Dove Pendants
Confirmation Crosses
Medals of the Holy Spirit

Confirmation Wall Crosses
Confirmation Frames
Confirmation Rosaries & Cases

I can only speak for myself on this, but I vaguely recall having my First Communion in the 3rd grade. I was...8 or 9 yrs. old. I also remember wearing a small veil around a headband, white, wrist-length gloves, and itchy, white pantyhose under a white dress. My dress was definitely passed the knee but above the ankle. Of course, this was 20 years ago...Oh, I also carried a small bible and a set of rosary beads. Don't know if you would want to carry that at your boutique. Basically I looked like a flower girl on Easter Sunday. LOL Here are someone's pictures I found online.

I think it's at 8 or 9. You should pop by a Catholic Church in your area, and simply ask. You can even attend one of the services, and check out the newest trends. They are always open to the public, though most times the church is packed with families, but you can always see them assemble outside. The communions are usually in the Springtime.
