My son is also Aspergers, took a long time to find out they were treating him for ADHD. He is 16 and tactile sensitive, does not like to be touched or looked at does not like crowds or alot of different scents. If he is in a crowded place he rapidly licks his lips and looks all around him. Took him to a green house once and that was a experience he had to touch and rub almost everthing on his face. He sometimes has a flash temper when he was small he would go into rages that would last for hours then suddenly it would stop. He is also very talented he draws very well whenhe was about 9 he said he wanted a violin for xmas I searched and found a nice new violin for him from Santa. He was very excited he took the violin went to the computer downloaded a music page with Violin music listened to it a couple times then played the piece, He then took it apart strings etc put it back and tuned it he still has his violin does not play anymore because he is done with it learned then put it away now it is the drums and guitar. There is much more to this children then meets the eye alot of people have no idea what it is and think they are bad or rude like the one persons brother my son used to do the same thing never bath now he has to bring his deoderant with him when we are out in case he might smell. He did not talk till he was three but when he did he echoed all he said used to liek to sleep in a box under his bed and would never take off his elephant sweater. he is and they all are very special/

My brother has Aspbergers. OK, here is a description from when he was 13....

He had no concept of personal appearence - he would never shower and lie about it, wear disgusting clothes that were dirty and ripped, and his hair was a horror. He looked homeless. He would steal. He would explode with anger and get in fights, which got him kicked out of a couple of schools. He had no concept at all about social graces most people take for granted, and many people could not stand him.

OK fast forward to the present (he is 17): His appearance still needs work, but he doesn't look gross anymore. He respects other people's property. He has learned to recognize when he is annoying other people and when he is starting to get angry, and he takes a break form the situation before it gets out of control. He hasn't been in a fight for at least a year, maybe longer. He is great working with litlle kids, and he loves them.

One thing I really learned about my brother is that he is a very sweet kid with a good heart, he just soesn't know how to express it.

Good luck - these are really hard years. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

So many!

You'd have to send me an IM. My user name is anjelkake.

Emotional cues are some of the worst hurdles for my 9 year old son. He is a brilliant artist and enjoys engineering things with his legos and erector sets. He especially loves the 9volt motor he recieved in the sets this Christmas.
