I'm a 32 year old stay at home dad. My wife got pre-eclapsia and had to deliver at 29 weeks. I sold out my business and did the back and forth from the hospital for 11 weeks. Mom and baby are fine now. I was just wanting to get some advise from some of you guys. Life, Love, Money, Health - You name it. I just wanted some input.

You are to be envied. The happiest time of my life was watching my children grow up. There are a lot of things you can do with your children that will help them become success full adults.
Whatever you do be a good role model to your children. Keep them in your mind eye and teach them the lessons you learned to make it in this life.
You know you have it made. How are they going to find happiness? Well, you were put here to be the good example for them...Just like Jesus was an example for all of us to follow

You win the father of the year award from me! Good job putting your family first!

Anyway, being a stay at home parent takes a lot of patience and you make many sacrifices. But it is so worth it in the end.

For life, try to take time (if possible) for just you. That is very important to be a happy stay at home parent. Don't alienate your friends or family and always accept help when someone offers.

Love- Be sure to always have quality time set aside for you and your spouse. It is always important to have alone time to be a couple. After all, without a strong marriage, your family falls apart.

Money- Start clipping those coupons and learn to live without certain luxuries you have become accustomed to. Shop sales and always check on line for discounts on items. Remember, babies grow quickly so they don't need too many outfits in the first year of life!

Health- Join a gym (this may dig into your money situation a little but it is so worth it) I have recently done this and I love it. I have so much more energy and I feel so much better. Many gyms will even have a daycare service that is free to full members.

I think there should be more men out there like you...Keep up the great work!

Take a weekend vaction, even if it's just a drive to the country. Babysitter for 2 days, get some alone time with the wife, forget about the baby for a weekend and just have some alone time. Even if you don't have a lot of money, some alone time is always needed especially after a stressfull situation. Gives you a release from the pressure and you can have fun without worring about everything you've been though buddy. Good luck.

Wow, my husband and I have an 11 month old and I'm lucky if he changes one diaper a month or even spends 20 minutes playing with her between the time he gets off work and she goes to bed! I'm a stay at home mom and I know it can be a very difficult and rewarding job. I just wanted to say GOOD JOB! Your wife is very lucky. And so are you, I'm sure a lot of fathers that would like to spend more time with their families but can't afford to.
Get out of the house with the family as often as you can if the weather permits. Sometimes we have so many responsibilities around the house and get into a routine, and we neglect to give ourselves time to have fun away from home. Also, make sure you get enough time for yourself, even if you are just running an errand without the baby. Everytime I get to get out of the house by myself, by the time I get back to my daughter I feel refreshed and re-energized and it really helps me be more creative and enthusiastic and a better parent. Good luck with everything!

Two thumbs up to you! I think it is great that you are willing to stay home with the baby...I'm glad to hear that both your wife and your baby are ok...it must have been a scary time for all of you.

Anyway, as a mother of a 3 month old on maternity leave right now...I can say if you have a routine, your day goes much better. I pick up around the house every morning after my baby's bottle so the house doesn't get too bad. I love quick and easy meals to make for supper...I use the crock pot as often as I can. I prepare the meal while my daughter is down for her morning nap.

Also, spend as much time as you can enjoying your baby as they grow up fast! There is nothing I enjoy more than playing with my daughter on the floor and seeing her smile!

Make time for your wife too. My daughter goes to bed at the same time every night and my husband and I then have some time to ourselves. We also set aside at least one night a month for "date night". We get a sitter (usually his parents) and go out somewhere. Sometimes, we just rent a movie and curl up on the couch. It is very important to be a husband as much as it is important to be a dad. Quite often, couples who have babies forget that they are husband and wife and then just become parents.

Enjoy this time...your wife is a very lucky person!

A HIGH-FIVE for you!!! It's so nice to hear of a Dad taking on the Mom role....
First of all... it's the hardest job in the world being a stay-at-home parent.
My advise... have a schedule/routine, make time for yourself, make time for your marriage, don't sweat the small stuff, set a budget, ask for help if you need it!!

First off, it seems like you are a pretty good guy!, I think that being a stay at home dad would be the same as stay at home mom, cook, clean, keep care of baby, the usual.
