I have a 9 year old daughter who is a couple of months away from being 10. I told her that I'll start considering it when she is 10. She is "oh so excited" (drama queen!) about being able to stay home by herself. I was just wondering...what's your advice/experience on the subject??? What are the laws nowadays about kids staying home by themselves?

My 20 year old step daughter who lives with gives me a very hard time. We had a long trip to visit my husbands family for the holiday's. I happened to be on the phone with my mother while this was happening and I just got so fed up I had asked her to meet us and pick me up b/c this is disfunctional. My 20 year old step daughter then started yelling at me and threatened me by saying if i ever said this family is dysfunctional againn she would do something. I then told her to get her facts straight, I said THIS is dysfunctional not this FAMILY. She then said "***** don't talk to me like you know me". By the way my husband said nothing about the disrespect I was getting from her. I did get mad b/c I was not being taken up for so I lost my temper with her. I regret it and apologized. We then decided to talk like adults which could not be done because all I got was I don't love her dad and I have hated her from them beginning. NOT TRUE! I am even thinking divorce. I need backing by my man

Yet another reason to quit, this article came out this week:
"Future smokers may be programmed in the womb to take up the habit later in life, research published on Tuesday said.

Scientists in Australia have discovered that children of women who smoked during pregnancy were more likely to become smokers than other youngsters.

They suggest nicotine from cigarettes passes through the placenta and may act directly on the developing brain of the unborn child."

..... "Children of the 1,000 women who had smoked during pregnancy were three times more likely to start smoking by the age of 14 and twice as likely afterwards compared to other children."

Ok basically he is 13, he has some friends that she would rather he not hang around with. She feels they dont have respect for other peoples stuff or people in general, swear alot and one of em turned up drunk at the house one day etc. So up till now she has banned him from hanging out with them when not at school. However all his friends hang out at the same place so this means basically that he cant see them either as these kids are also there. He is also shy at making new friends so its not like you can tell him to go find new friends away from that circle of friends.Shes afriad these kids that she percieves as bad may lead him astray as peer pressure may get to him. However he is really down and he is starting to feel resentfull towards his mum as this ban stops him seeing his other mates too. He feels he should be given chance to show he is reliable etc and wont do anything wrong. So do you think this ban should continue or is she being over protecitve??????

I have 4 boys and not one of them will go to bed and stay there when I ask them to despite the same routine day after day? My 2 & 4 year old share a room so bed time is 7:30pm. My 8 year old goes at 8pm & my 11 year old goes at 8:30pm. Everyone complains and wont stay in bed or their room. They all come out one by one throughout the night sometimes until 12am at night! Its exhausting! Both my husband and I have tried everything and its really wearing us down! I cant find anywhere information on recommended bed times for kids, just to help me see if Im doing th e right thing for bedtimes. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions? Anything would be a help! Thanks in Advance!

I had my first child (who is almost 6 now) at a really young age. I sacrificed a lot to give her the time she need with me at that time. She was doing great and blooming. However, after my 2nd was born, 3 years ago (when my first was 2 1/2 years old), her personality started to fall apart. I didn't have the maturity to really understand the major shift in her life from being only child to "another child" until now. It must have been very hard for her to adjust to that change. She had all the attention in the world from me then suddenly came this little baby. I feel like I should have been more sensitive to her feelings at the time because I believe her unacceptable behaviour now has a big connection to that shift of role in her life. She doesn't feel remorse against her little brother but she really misbehaves and seems to thrive on it, (unfortunately). I feel guilty about it now and wonder how on Earth I can reverse those affects and help her be more motivated to do good.

Do you think your vagina is attractive?

Weird question, I know...but I have had two kids and I don't think that my vagina looks nice anymore. No, it's not stretched out, it just looks different for sure.

Do you think your vagina is pretty?

I have a 3yr old (Afton), and a 4yr old (Cohen), they are 11 months apart and are very active boys! (ask my 8yr old daughter (Jude) they drive her crazy, lol) They seem to be hitting a phase where they literally beat the crap out of each other! I regulate what they see on tv, and we encourage kindness in the home. It just started about a month ago, my hubby wrestles with them sometimes (play wrestle in the living room floor), but all in fun, i dunno! But the funny thing is if someone was to pick on one of them, they will have both to deal with, so they stick up for each other, which is good. So is it normal, should I be concerned, what can I do? My daughter was so sweet! lol, boys are different! lol!

My 5 year old daughter was sent home from school this afternoon with a note from her principal saying that she cannot return unless she has on a bra. The note says that she is a distraction to the little boys in gym class and this cannot be tolerated in a good school. Although my daughter is a 38dd, I thought that at 5 she was a little too young to wear a bra. Can the school kick her out for this reason?? Help please!

concerning the children put into my care. Am feeling extremely concerned 4 some of the children being placed in my care and am feeling very emotional (privately) when dealing with some of their issues. 1 girl, who is available for adoption and has blown 2 adoptions and 6 placements, while manipulative, showed some promise of having a really good heart, and needing a strong foster, abused beyond anything I can even fathom, is a strong and resilent child, yet, I see the damage. Is there any real hope for change? She is generous (puts money in the poor box, buys toys for other children, etc) and in general, very kind. When I took her back to the group home, cried all the way home. 2nd visit knew she needed more help than what she is getting. What do I do 2 help her & others that are coming into my care, to make sure they are getting the care they need and deserve? What can I do to be what they need? Any advice from any foster parents wood be greatly appreciated! Or should know?

I just recently caught my 5 year old daughter and my 5 year old nephew showing each other their privates. My daughter told me they also touched each other once. After getting all details and confirming she has never "played" this game before with anyone.I asked her if she was curious. She's so young I had to explain what curious meant. She said that's what it was. What do I do,should I punish her?I didn't want to spank her because I wanted all the info first and I wanted her to feel comfortable talking to me>>I'm feeling very sad.I thought I would be having the sex talk with my daughter at a young age around 10 or so But 5!!!We do always talk about inapropriate touching and who is allowed to help her change etc..There's myself and her two grandmas and NoOne else.I kind of think she let me down.My mom says it's not that big of a deal and that it's normal and all we can do is keep a closer eye on the kids. What do you al think.help.sad.mad.want to cry
