my son started at a daycare facility 5 weeks ago because i have gone back to work a couple of days a week. Since starting, he has come home 3 times with a viral infection. The first was just vomiting for one night, the second was the works with a measles type rash that lasted 3 days and the latest one has been vomiting for 2 days and was almost admitted into hospital this morning and put on a drip. I know it is usual for kids to pick things up at daycare, but surely not 3 times in 5 weeks? Do you think its just bad luck or should i look at moving him?

I gave a notes for 14 yr old stepson to give to his teachers. Each day I asked “Did you give them the notes?” He would say he “forgot”. Finally 8 days later, with his father present, I asked him point blank if he planned to give the teachers the sealed notes I'd written. He said “No I don't.” His father asked him why he would do/say such a disrespectful thing and why did he not want us to communicate with is teachers. He ignored the question. His father then told him that he would not get the $50 he needed for a field trip to Medieval Times which he was looking forward to and not to ask for money from him other than for basic necessities until further notice. My husband RARELY disciplines his children in any way so I was shocked that he was stepping up for ONCE. Now, 1 week later, he is giving him money again (for ice cream at school and other non "basic" things). I think when the field trip deadline comes the son will also get his $50. What to do in this situation?

I love it and I can afford it! My kid doesnt act like a brat by any means and is very huggy and loving, he is 2 years old. He even vacuums and puts his clothes away on hangers! I just love giving him things, I was not spoiled as child either. Are there any other moms like me??? My kid has a dvd player and plasma tv in his room...is that really a bad thing??? He only watches about 1 hour a week of it.

Is it really that necessary?

Can't we teach our own children the skills they learn watching Barney or The DoddleBops?

Do you feel technology is a used more as useful resource or a cop out?

I have two children from my ex. From the moment we seperated i was pregnant with our second child and we already had a 6 year old. He got with another woman and he stayed away for months and now that he is running away from the law he wants to be apart of their lives, but a month ago he would just come for an hour and see them. He denied his son for months because his new girlfriend made him believe he was not his until he was born and saw our son and he never signed the birth certificate agian because of her. Our daughter though does not really ask about her daddy anymore and also thinks that is my fault. Now he wants me to send his children to the place hes staying (300 miles away) just to see him when he doesnt pay court ordered child supprt and wants a paternity test because of his new girlfriend wants one. What should I do?

Personally, I believe using the restroom every now and then will work wonders. The Supernanny plots are crappy new stuff that is all fake and not true. REASONING WITH YOUR CHILDREN??? Come on now, your the parent and as parents I know said around me... I'd rather punch you before some on out in those streets get to ya. Also, sometimes, grounding doesnt work. Really, do you think kids are going to oblige to that. My nephew gets in stores and throws stuff off shelves and go's crazy literally. My mother posps his hands and he cries rather loud and that's it. i feel that all children need spankings every now and then. i think of it as a form of love. your thoughts?

Any suggestions? I'm a single mom and my kids think if I make them clean that they shouldn't have to do it again for another 3 days or so. It's frustrating b.c I don't have time to do all of the cleaning.

It's getting annoying, she didn't used to be like that, as soon as she hears no she starts crying screaming about ANYTHING....everytime were at a restaurant or church there is always atleast 1 episode where i have to take her outside and wait for her to calm down...today at the mall people were coming to the area where i was to see what was going on because she was screaming so loud like someone was killing her just because she was at their little park for about half and hour and I said it's time to go now.

My oldest son turned 3 this year...Last year he didn't really care much about Christmas still. Now he is ready for Santa lol. My second son is almost 2. I was wondering how many people keep the presents under the tree from the time they buy them? I did this in the past, but i think i want to keep them put away until "santa" comes, just to keep my sneaky boys out of them.

How many people keep their presnts under the tree? Who puts them out on Christmas eve while children are in bed? Is it more of a happy surprise that way?

Every night, I call my girlfriend (or she calls me) and we talk, but I also tell her a bedtime story to help her sleep. =)

We're both 16

We've only been doing this for about a week (the bedtime stories) but Im already out of ideas. If anyone has suggestions, let me know? Iinks to stories or summaries would be great.

Thank you
I <3 Kaela

He stays in bed until noon saying he is sick and then gets up early afternoon saying he feels better and starts playing computer games.

What are times like when he's home? I have a 3 year old and my husband is around sunday and half of saturday (all of saturday if we're lucky) but we spend a lot of time fighting (between all 3 of us)

I'm trying to get him to do stuff around the house - like child proof- or fix things child broke- and he's lying around wanting to do stuff to relax. Or he goes out with friends and sleeps in the next morning. What are your days like?
