Parenting - November 2006

My son's teacher was fired last week
and it will take the school about a month to find a replacement.
My son doesn't want to go now because he liked the other teacher.
Also it took him about 3 months to warm up to school and now this happens.
Don't know what to do.
any advise would be helpful!

Also another parent in my son's class was the reason she got fired for a mistake that the teacher made. I thought she was an excellent teacher and think she should not have been fired!

I am currently in the middle of a divorce. I currently live in Florida. My daughters live with there mother in North Carolina. I am currently paying child support for my two daughters. My question is my kids stay with me for the entire summer. Is it possible to get support while my kids stay with me for the summer? If not I dont know if I can even afford for them to come stay for summer.

my husband just got back from iraq, and he left when our son was 2 weeks old, so my son isnt use to him, when he gets here he wants to be alone with him so he can get use to him, but my baby is going to scream, and i dont want him to think i dont want him, what shoud i do???

I say no, but wife says it's more dangerous to say no because she may sneek .. (she's never done anything sneeky or dishonest in her life!). It's her first boyfriend. He's seems like a nice guy but the age difference, the body piercing, the smoking, lives at home, dropped out of high school, etc..makes me feel this is not a good idea. Especially for a first boyfriend at 16 yrs old. I need honest opinions please.

my mom said she is going to make me wear girl clothes because i made fun of my sister getting her period, and i called my mom a b word, she says i don't respect women. so she is getting my older sisters old dresses and skirts out for me to wear, she says i obviously need to see what its like , and how hard it is, you really think i need this? what if someone sees me ill look like a little girl?

My mother has had tempory custody of my children since 2001. I have never been proven unfit and have done all that the courts have asked for me and my husband to do. It has been long years and still can't get into court. What do i do now?

My teenager daughter's grades have gone down hill since 6th grade and she is now a freshman, she says she wants to go to college but doesn't show it in her actions toward school. I have tried many types of punishments to get her to improve, but now I am finally going to take away all her clothing and go to the goodwill and get her a new wardrobe of just plain clothes, nothing that's close to what the children are wearing now, I'm going to get her jeans and shirts a size or two bigger than what she wears,she will look like the outcast instead of one of the "in" girls. It's funny how people complain about their lives and they don't even have chidlren yet, a mortgage or other stressful respoinsibilites and they complain and feel sorry for themselves. My brother does it all the time and I just want him to live a day in my life (wiht a toddler in his terrible two's and a newborn). Atleast he can take a nap whenever he wants, that right there makes his life a heck of a lot easier!

Made a mistake with a girl a long time ago, she was older then me, but still living at home, and her parents didn't want me around at all, ended up moving away from that state. Never really was in his life, but always paid support, and made sure I knew how he was and etc. His mom and him moved to a city only 45 minutes away and she asked if I would want to get involved, either as 'dad' or just her friend. I want to get involved, but I'm scared I'll just make things worse, or harder for him. Could anyone give serious suggestions?

I've been sitting on my front porch watching how the kids play. They seem to point the finger at my daughter all the time when I've witness them to be the blame. We are the new neighbors so when I would be confronted my the moms that their kids told them my daughter did something I would punish my child. After watching them over these last couple of months its their kids that are in fault. I love my neighborhood and made friends with my neighbors and don't want to lose that. I feel horrible that all this time I've been punishing my child for something that wasn't even her fault. Like grounded her took away her toys. I put a stop to that once I found out the truth. They seem to put the blame on one paticular child who does start alot of problems but its not her its their own children too and they don't see it. I need advice on how to aproach them without coming off like a bad neighbor. Any ideas?

Is spanking bad for kids? Does spanking border on being child abuse? If you're okay with spanking, at what point do you think some parents cross the line and take it too far? My kids are 6 and 7, and they want Game Boys for Christmas. I have strong objections personally, as does my ex-wife, but they are VERY responsible kids, and would stick to the limits and terms of use set by their parents as far as 'time per day' allotted for gaming. What do the experts think about 'limited' gaming for kids? What are the more reccommended 'educational' games for Game Boy? Any help would be appreciated: Thanks!

Do you think that they are just a way of making money by making parents insecure? Or do you think they really help? Or, do you prefer spending a lot of time with your kids outside and showing them things?
I personaly can see the point of those toys and would buy my kids some of them, but I also think it is important to spend active quality time with kids. What do you think?

im not going through any adoption agency, just me, my husband, our lawyer, the orpahnage and their lawyer...the orphanage wants me to do a homestudy//i know that they want criminal backgrounds, physicals, marriage certificates, etc...but what else can i add to makeit more interesting like pics and stuff????

I am divorced. Husband bailed out. I have emotional problems, anger problems, no money, no family, no friends.
Or should I just try to raise my son the best way I can. I don't think I am a fit parent. Either way, I don't want my son to be messed up like me.

i was picking on my sisters friends and her in the pool, giving them wedgies and making fun and i accidently riped one of there bathing suits, my mom got all pissed off and told me since i don't know how to respect guest or women then starting tomorrow i will wear the same thing that they have to wear in the pool and see how i like it, so shes making me wear one of my sisters old pink one piece bathing suits with a skirt on it in the pool, and i have to apologize, is this a fair punishment?

me and my husband are going for divorce since he isnt cooperating with us in the family we have had 5 kids together they are ages 13,9,6,3 and a month old how do i tell them that there is a divorce in the family? how can i cope with me and my kids living on a salary of 8000-10,000$ a month? and will anyone tell me if this is a reasonable excuse for a divorce?(my hubby is not helping with the kids one bit,i have stayed with him for 15 yrs just for the kids but he has got through anger management classes,a therapist and a pschycologist and yet he is not heping us he spanks the kids everytime they do some mistake like my 3 yr old girl leaving the tv on for 10 mins.,screaming at our month old son and constantly nagging me to move to Alaska but i cant do that because my home,family and job is here at Indiana) please people help me on this!

I took my 9 year old step son who is with us on the weekends to my in laws house. My son and his cousin were playing for a couple hours and when we left I noticed that my son had taken pokemon cards, a pokemon toy, and game. When I asked my son he said that they were his. When his father got home I told him of what happened and we don't know what to do now. How do we approch our son? We know that he took the items dispite his saying they were his. Do we make him take them back to his cousin and appoligize or do we take them back and apoligize? We are really embaressed! We have not had to deal with a situation like this before and don't have any idea how to start the conversation with our son. Please help any advice will be concidered.
