I was spanked as a child...I'm not in tharapy and I'm not a serial killer.
What the hell does time-out do? when a child does wrong they should be corrected, not sat in a corner.

I will be 30 soon and several of my friends are already on their 2nd child. I am not even married but do have a long term boyfriend. Am I getting left behind or is this normal these days to have children later in life?

Well I'm only 15 and I was just wondering how most of you parents feel when you turn on the tv and you hear that another teenager has threw her baby in the garbage or when you do research online and see how many females get abortions. How do you feel about that. I know its none of my business but it just makes me mad. It's like c'mon, the baby didn't want to be here that was your choice. That was your decision. Anyways how do ya'll feel about it?

I’m thinking of starting an in home daycare. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to start? I really want to be a stay at home mom, but financially my husband and I cannot do it. I think an in home day care would give me the privilege of being with my baby all day. Does anybody have any advice or tips on running a daycare? Where do I start? Where can I find info? What would you look for as a parent in a home daycare?

My son's father and I are divorced and I have remarried. The father suddenly cut all contact to my son(now 7) and daughter(now 4) 1 1/2 years ago, after I was told about the physical abuse from his girlfriend. Everytime he "sneaks" a chance from his girlfriend to see them while they're at his sister's (just to make him look like a good father to his mother when she's in town) my son acts up at home and at school after the encounter. He won't talk to me about how he feels about all of this. But he tells his teacher that his real dad doesn't like him, and he talks to my mother-in-law about this subject occasionally. I have never done or said anything bad about my ex around the children, and I just wish he could tell me why he axts so bad for myself and his teachers. Does ayone have any advice?

My two children are 10 months, and 9 years. Due to the little one not knowing who Santa is yet, I am wondering if this should be the year we explain Santa to my oldest. He has written his letter to Santa, and told him what he wanted as far as gifts and wishes, but I wonder if maybe he already knows and he is just going through the motions for my sake. How old should a child be when he finds out the truth? I figured by this age he would have already told me he didn't believe because his friends told him or something. And if he doesn't know - How do I tell him without killing his spirit? I've thought about accentuating "St. Nicholas" since he was a real person. Any suggestions??

My husband and I have been married for about 3 years. He has a 20 year old daughter who has her daddy wrapped around her finger. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that my husband is a good dad, but in my opinion she is an adult and works. The only bills she has is a $160 car payment and cell phone bill. My husband even balances her check book for her. She is very rude to me and waits until i go to work and sits and tells her dad lie after lie. No I'm not being jealous, she just happend to tell her mom one thing and me another and then her dad something else. i know she is a big girl, but she live in our house that I work my butt off for and get no kind of respect. she does not even help with cleaning duties or anyhting. i am always being lectured by my husband about her and he just does not understand that I do the best i can to do what's best for her and she just manupulates him. He thinks i should give her some slack. I dont think so. it seems as if my husband wants her, not me.

My son is 8 and we live in a neighborhood where kids at my son's school are doing drugs already! I have had talks with him and we did roleplaying where I was trying to give him drugs and he had to say no. I think it went well, but I'd like to get more info to impress upon him.

Plus what do I say when he asks me if I tried drugs? I had smoked pot as a teen but I don't know what to say, I don't want to lie but I also don't want him to think it's ok.

Any suggestions or web sites? This is serious so no joke answers PLEASE my son's life is not a comedy for you. Thank you!!!

My 17 year old son loves his teacher. He talks about her all the time. He is always writing her love letters and saying how pretty she is. Just the other day she came to my house expressing an intrest in entering a serious relationship with my son. She says that she is very much in love with him and wants to one day become his wife. I'm not sure how I feel about this relationship, after all she is 65 years old. My husband says that I should shut up and let them date because it is his life. Should I let my son date his 65 year old teacher??

My friend Daniel is gay and his lover and I were talking about why they are gay...both agree it was something in their up bringing...both from broken homes...both lacking a father...both with very strong ties to their mothers'...They agree that there is no doubt about early influences...but they also think they were pre-disposed to becoming gay due to the way their brains were wired from birth...My question then...Is there a link maybe, between brain function/disfunction/activity...and gayness?

the reason some boys become gay as adults is because the father wasnt around for that male bonding boys need in order to become men but since the father is never there the mother becomes the role model so now the wants to become like his mother and starts picking up some of her feminen trait

I found out recently that my 7 year old daughter is an awesome artist! Her drawings are as good as photograghs, I swear! I want to encourage her to nurture this ability, but at the same time I want to discourage her from continuing to draw the kinds of things she does. All she seems to ever draw are pictures of herself crying and her 17 year old brother hitting and touching her. No one will ever want to buy this kind of discusting artwork. I want to push her away from this kind of subject matter but not push her away from art altogether.

Okay, first of all,she has never seen her father (my hubby) and I do this and we don't have cable or watch soap operas.Yesterday I walked in her room and my jaw dropped when I saw her naked barbies (males and females) "making whoopee". =(
Is this normal?Where do the young kids learn it,I mean she is just a baby herself.Should I call the doctor or a specialist, maybe tell the Sunday school teacher? Desperately seeking advice

My son 7 came home from school the other day and asked me what racism was i hope i explained it ok and he seemed to go away understanding. But this has happened numerous times and i always think of what to say off the top of my head sometimes telling him things that are not strictly true e.g he heard on evening news the word rape he asked what it was i told him "it,s when a man kisses a lady and she doesnt want him to", i couldnt think of a suitable way to explain to a 7 yr old.Do other parents have same problem or are you all prepared for such questions?Id like to always be honest with him but never know the terms or words to use.
