I totally support the local shelters!!! Me & me 21 month old son have 5 cats, not from shelters though. They were rescued by other means. In addition to new parents getting pets for the children, the local shelters do screenings & regular shots to assure the pet is healthy for adoption!! Thank you for addressing.

I never suggest getting a pet "for" a child. People should get pets for the family. It has to be a family effort. and a pet should always be a member of the family.

if my children wanted a pet i would make sure they take good and full responsibility for it and make sure they keep the dog in the yard and in the house and properly know how to walk the dog on their own. yeah i would i just would like to see my children take responsibility for their pet. and i want to make sure they clean up after their pet.

it'd be too tough my 14 yr old is so irresponsible and i have a baby on the way i just couldnt i dont want to have the baby early because of stress sorry

I am not sure you really care about the answer to this question, but yes I am getting my kids 2 kittens once my friend's cat gives birth.
