I am currently in the middle of a divorce. I currently live in Florida. My daughters live with there mother in North Carolina. I am currently paying child support for my two daughters. My question is my kids stay with me for the entire summer. Is it possible to get support while my kids stay with me for the summer? If not I dont know if I can even afford for them to come stay for summer.

You really need to consult an attorney.

One solution you might consider would be to retain what you would normally pay for child support (in other words, don't pay your support to your kids' mother when they're not there for the summer) and use it to take care of them when they're with you.
Since your ex-wife isn't caring for the kids for those weeks/months, she doesn't need the money.

A word of caution here: be sure to have this processed through the attorney and the courts. Otherwise, you might be found in breech of your parental obligation contract and find yourself in a heap of trouble for "non-support".

It will depend on how the wording of your divorce settlement goes. It is certainly possible to set up for which ever parent physically has the children to pay the other child support, even through a split year like that. Make sure that language makes it into the divorce decree and it should be fine.

Dear florida,
it varies by state ask the social service rep.or read through the support statement.we had the same problem and mommie dearest spent the money on new bedroom funiture for herself.
But in SD if you have legal visitation she has to take a cut by half and she also has to drive halfway ect...hope this helps goodluck.

you should be able to go to family court and explain to the judge your situation and get support for the time they are with you or have your support stopped for that time
