The first response is correct. It is a long, drawn out process and quite stressful. On average you are looking at more than $20,000. We almost adopted from China.

Overseas adoptions tend to be less expensive than domestic adoptions. Sometimes you can lower your fees by taking on a disabled child. Also, many families apply for grants from various organizations to help cover costs. Some people do fundraisers as well. There are options out there but it is still a very difficult and expensive process.
