Whatever you and your body are comfortable with. A friend of my family's had a son and was pregnant 3 months later, so the boys are exactly a year apart.

I think this decision is based on what the parent(s) feel is a 'comfortable' time to get back into that routine of diapers, and child-minding 24/7, again.
If you are financially secure and can handle having another child added to your family, and also, if the roles of each parent is secure, like, one of the parents are able to work and provide for the family, without having to take on too many jobs, then maybe it would be considered. However, if there is any kind of hesitation, in where you are in your life, and possible future goals, then maybe you need to think about pursuing your personal goals (school, work, travel), before considering adding to your family.
In any case, having more children is up to the parent(s), and how they feel about having another baby in the home, where it's secure and ready.

I have been told 2 years apart because your body has healed and your 1st child is more inderpendant and you can explain the need to share your time. but relisticly its your family your body so you will have some idea when you are ready to go through the baby stage again hope every thing goes well for you and best luck for the future

I'd suggest having them at least 3 years apart. My two children are 27 months apart, and it has been really stressful for me. I've read that children have really intense emotional needs for the first 3 years of life, and by the time they're 3, they can usually communicate pretty well and are potty trained.

I heard on CNN a few months ago that doctors suggest one to five years is the best time. Why?
1) it gives your body a chance to heal
2) your kids will be close enough in age to get along well
3) if you wait longer, you're going to be older, which increases the risk of you being pregnant.

Good luck! :)

Two years is the best time to wait. More than 2 is too much, your child wouldn't have a sibling with whom to play. Plus it gives you time to relax from the fist one.

haha well...
im 14 years old. my mom is pregnant with her 2nd baby now.

14 yrs. the best time.

That is especially if u have a son and not a daughter for first kid. this is because he will feel protective of you while your pregnant and if any birthing emergency comes up he will help you and hold you thru it. i m gonna be there for my mom no matter what!! she needs me now that shes got my baby brother inside her belly!

i would at least wait a year. give ur body time to heal.
also i think it is easier not to overwhelm your self with two small children. but it is whenever your comfortable and whenever your ready for another..

i recommend visiting the doctor to make sure your body is ready to be pregnant again..

good luck
