I need some ideas. Our babysitting co-op has dwindled to two members. We've advertized on some local web sites and hung flyers around town. Any other ideas?

This guy abused my freind while she was pregnant. He aslo is a heavy drug user. He never once has seen the baby and wasnt there for the pregnancy. He is wanted by the authorities for skipping probation. Do you think that he should get rights to that baby

My son is 5 years old and is in Kindergarden this year. Last year, in pre-K, he mastered counting to 100, ABC's, simple sounds, and writing his name. I read to him all the time, and he can read very simple books, like the cat in the hat, with some stumbling. However, he's 5. I'm not expecting perfection.

Anyways, I get a progress report today from his teacher saying his skills in these areas need improvement? WTF?? I do EXTRA work each night with him, even though they do not have homework. We do simple mathematics, reading, writing his name and other words, sounding out words, and a fun make a sentence and draw a picture to describe it. Every night. What the hell are they expecting? From what I see, my boy is doing super. Is he supposed to be calculating the radius of Neptune at 5 years old? Jesus.

He got all satisfactory for staying on task, behavior, participation, work skills, and following direction. But they claim he cannot write his name and doesn't know the alphabet.??????

Is it now rare for children to know how to prepare meals from scratch or do you teach them how?
Same applies to sitting down to eat at a table.

My aunt is 50. She has a 9 year old and a 4 year old.

She waited to have children because she was establishing her career, which she loves, and now works part time and stays home with her children.

I am not bashing "older" mothers, but I notice she is tired a lot with her children, they don't play much and she is always telling them to go read and quiet down because she doesn't have a lot of energy to be out running around with them.

She also expects her children to always behave and they act like they are 40 years old. Its sad because I wish they could just be little happy kids, but they never have fun.

Is this a common thing for mothers who start having children in their 40's?

Do older mothers have less energy for their children to where they are not "fun" moms?

His daughter is now going through the emotions of her mom not being there for her to where she lashes out at me. What can i do to help her with this situtation. She talks back, gets mean, crys, and has tempers. I love her with all my heart and i have always been there for her but i dont know what to do. I dont want to put her in couseling..

What do you all feel about a 2nd grader coming home from school by herself for 30 minutes? Is it too young? What is a good age to start then?

She wants the baby to have her last name, but I feel like the baby should have my last name just in case something such as health issues go wrong in the future. No the father isn't in the baby's life but still i feel like he should be on the birth certificate as the father and she feels like she should be listed as the father. I know she will be there no matter what for the child. She's been to every appointment, boughten everything but i still feel like the biological father should be on the birth certificate.

This mother needs to get a life! I read the article in our local London paper this morning. These children are too young to be in the house on their own using the stove, cooking their own meals. She is wasting her time camping out on her front lawn in a tent when she should be taking some parenting lessons IMO!

If a mother is married, and her husband is the baby's father, can the mother name her baby whatever she wants?

My wife jokes that she is going to make up some random name for our baby and since I am not the mother I don't have a say.

Is this true? She is kidding, but now I wonder about a father's right to his baby's name!

I am in my mid 20's and I have a myspace to keep in touch with family and friends. (Yes, I might be too old for myspace).

When we have a baby I would like to post a picture so everyone can see our baby.

Do you think its safe to post a picture of your newborn on myspace?

I am going to set it on private so only my friends can see my profile.

I have 30 people on my friends list and I know them all personally.

I have noticed there are some single mothers on welfare getting only a couple hundred a month for income.

How can a mother of two support her children on $300-$500 a month?

Also these mothers on yahoo answers don’t work, so they sit at home and have like 6,000 posts on yahoo answers.

If they are on welfare how can they afford the internet and be on it all day?

I am not trying to be a jerk, but I also notice a lot of the single mothers on welfare (on yahoo) are teens.

And I know a lot of single mothers aren’t on welfare, my wife’s mother was a single mother of two at 22 and worked two jobs and never was on government assistance and no child support.

What’s going on here?
