Im not refering to just the slang term itself...but I constantly see people who can hardly speak proper english..mostly single moms refering to this significant others as "Baby Daddy's" or "I want him to be my Baby Daddy" AHHH!!

Our society is indeed ignorant. People just hop from one bed to another without any regard of the consequences: the most serious being an unexpected pregnancy and/or AIDS.
When people refer to their kid's mother or father as 'baby momma' or 'baby daddy', they actually think it is cute, when in actuality it is not.
Parenting is a joke to people nowadays, for the simple fact that parents are not married and they are extremely young and not ready for the responsibility that comes with rearing a child.

I'd have to agree with you. It really gets on my nerves as well when someone refers to a mother as "Baby-Momma." I don't know whether its our society becoming ignorant or not, but it seems to me, that having babies isn't being taken serious anymore. I mean in today's society, It is very common for the woman not to even know who the Father is! Hence why it is also so common where you can have an abortion, give it up the day it is born, or just drop it off at the hospital one day when you decide you don't want it anymore. And everything is fine.
People need to wake up!
Its not really okay to not know who the father of your baby is, or to even know IF you have child or not. If you're that irresponsible, then wait til you're married to have sex..

I think people starting using this term, because, it is very common for a woman to get pregnant by one man and then hook up with another while she is still pregnant. So, if the woman is not with the father of the child and she's with some other guy and all three of them are together, then she has to explain that the guy she is with is NOT the babys father, that guy over there is.. Does that make sense. I think that women are having babies with mulitple different men. So they have to point out the correct dad. I find it sad. I was raised with both parents who have been married for 50 years. So it's hard for me to understand.

However annoying those slang terms may be, they still mean pretty much the same thing. I personally don't use those terms as I think they sound completely ignorant. I've also come to realize that most people who use those terms on this board can't seem to grasp spelling and grammar comprehension either......coincidence? I think not.

they do refer to the person that is not there for there offspring. like if i left my girl with my child and never came to visit i would be the baby daddy which mean that im not a provider and viseversa. but u also have to acknowlegde that many parents now are between 15-22 which really havent matured enough to think of their future and their children all they want to do is PARTY!!!!

People are too casual about these things. If someone isn't married or together, what else would they be besides the baby's momma or daddy?
I'm blessed that my baby's daddy is also my husband! :)

It is an absurd saying that does drive me crazy. I think people take commitment way to lightly now-a-days. And for the first poster, Daddy-o was equivalent to our dude not to a father...anyone could be a daddy-o.

As much as I hate the terms, what I hate more is that our society apparently has nothing against unwed parents-- so much so that it has invented these terms for them.
As always, the children will pay.
