My son just got over the bug. He had yellow diarrhea and threw up once (all over me of course at 3 am). For 4 days! He was so sick he just snuggled me and we watched blue's clues all day and he cried a lot. Horrible. Then my husband caught it. Luckily I didn't.

I know my answer is not much help, but I empathize with you. I can still smell the stench of the yellow runs.

Rotovirus is a common virus in young children, and causes diarrhea by attacking the lining of the small intestine. There is no drug that treats the virus itself, but other medications can be used to treat the symptoms of diarrhea, fever, nausea and vomiting. The symptoms usually last 30 - 10 days, but the child remains contagious for 10 - 12 days after the diarrhea begins.

Symptomatic treatment includes rest, and Pedialyte for electrolyte replacement. Gatorade and other similar drinks should not be used because the sugar content can irritate the intestinal lining further. Nursing mothers should continue nursing.

Watch for signs of dehydration, the biggest danger with this illness. They include sunken eyes, irritability, lethargy, sunken soft spot, dry mounth and tongue, and very little urination. If you notice these signs, call the doctor immediately, as your child may need to be hospitalized and put on IV fluids. This can save your child's life in cases of severe dehydration.

My daughter(then 10 months) had this last winter. I thought she would never stop with the diarrhea and throwing up... I felt so bad for her because it does have to run its course. It is contagious so I had lysol wipes and spray everywhere.
Symptoms are fever, lethargic, vomiting, diarrhea...Much like the stomach flu. My daughter had it for almost two weeks. I think we went through 2 packs of diapers in 10 days. Yeah, that is how bad it was, it kept coming from both ends. The most important thing to know it that because everything is coming out, dehydration can happen so quick. My daughter was, and it was so hard to get her to eat or drink, she didn't want to do either. She even threw up pedialyte. What worked for her was me or my husband holding her and with a straw dropping water and Gatorade in her mouth. It was a long 10 days. Of course, your baby's probably isn't as bad.
Good luck, I can sympathize with you. Hang in there and I hope your baby feels better soon.

My 4 yr old daughter had Roto Virus in March. It is very contagious and is espically bad in daycares and places where diapers are changed. You need to make sure your daycare provider and anyone keeping your child keeps the changing area clean and sanitary.. Also, scrub the crap out of your hands... Use a fingernail brush and get under those nails... Bleach everything you can and wash the babys sheets, clothes and blankets in as hot of water as they can stand.
My daughter woke up at 230am with diareha and vomiting.. by 930 she hadnt slowed down any and was vomiting up white foam.. took her to the hospital and they forced 1 bad of IV in her, by 2 pm she was still dehydrating and they admitted her. She was in the hospital for 5 days, went thru 6 bags of IV's and had the strongest IV antibotic they could give her. 4 out of those 5 days she didnt intake any food in her body. She did drink gingerale and gatorade, but it always bounced. The IV was the only thing that saved her. She was diagnosed with Roto Virus, Stomach flu, and a bladder infection.. She never went to daycare. I stayed home with her... Good luck and happy bleaching!!

Rota virus is a nasty virus that strikes infants and toddlers mostly although older kids and adults can get this. It is very contagious. Rota virus causes fever, forceful frequent vomiting and very frequent, large volume diarrhea.
If a child does not drink fluids they can dehydrate very easily and that is the danger with this virus.

Did your doctor give you something to help with the vomiting? If they did not give you medication to help you should call them and ask for suppositories to help with the vomiting.
