I know every baby is unique amd will do their own milestones differently but i can not help wondering, is my son delayed??? he is 7 months old and does not even sit up yet unsupported. How do you know when they are going to do it? i don't remeber. my daughter sat up alone at 5 months.

Does he roll over...how is he meeting his other developmental milestones. Next time you go to the doctor, you can ask, but I'll bet by then, he will be sitting.

My son never crawled, but he went from sitting himself up to standing in 3 days. Cruising within a week and walking a week later. The milestones don't show that happening, but each kid is different. If it seems like he is running a bit behind don't worry.

Also, I have heard that many babies are now developing slower because they are never put on their stomachs, so certain muscles are not developed.
Have you been putting your son on his stomach for play time?

We are parents of a toddler and we used to go nuts worrying about these milestones. Unless your doctor indicates something is delayed you should relax. I never realized until I was a parent how dramatically different the development of children is.

My son got up and starting running at 10 months, but we worried he wasn't talking, our neighbor's son was barely crawling at the same age but talking up a storm.

I would suggest lots and lots of "tummy-time" - it really seem to get them working hard at getting those muscles going, which include the stomach muscles to sit unsupported.

He is fine. Is he a big baby? Sometimes bigger babies take longer to sit up and even to walk just because their muscles have to develop enough to support their body weight.

You are also right in saying that all babies hit milestones at different ages. My daughter was walking at 10 months but didn't get any teeth until after her first birthday. Give him some time.

My son pulled himself up and crawled before he would sit up. For some reason he just didn't like. Don't worry about it for right now. It's no big deal. My daughter also sat up when she was 5 months old too. I was doing the same thing, comparing my children. You really can't do that, it didn't work for me. My kids are so different it's ridiculous. If you're really concerned, talk to his doctor.

He will get it... just be patient. My son starting sitting at 4-5 months and sat unsupported at 5-6 months. My daughter is 6 months now and she can't sit up yet because she likes to throw herself backwards. He will get there!

My daughter started sitting up at 4 months, but like you said every child develops differently. You should check with your baby's pediatrician at his next appointment.

TELL YOUR DOCTOR about your concerns... and get him a physical therapist. Believe me, it helps. I had to do the same thing with my 2nd daughter who's now 6. You need to get is started now. Good luck.
