I want to convert my position to exempt from non-exempt. I meet ALL the administrative criteria for an exempt employee. I work 8-5 everyday and get the same amount of pay but it's paid hourly (althought it was calculated from an annual salary on my offer letter). Is there a statute that says my employer MUST make me an exempt employee if I meet the job responsibility criteria?

I received what could be described as a "courtesy call" from the administrator of the lawsuit settlement for Ameriquest. They were reminding me that I needed to get my release form returned by September 10th in order to be part of the settlement. I am the named plaintiff in a lawsuit against them, should they be calling me?

Is this propriate words from a director and a dean?
Hi, I am an international student who was admitted by a college. Today, I contact the program director and dean because the concern that maybe I can not register on time because of the visa status problem. I tried to explain my situtation but they seemed didn't hear. The director said that it is inpropriate to contact him about my problem. The dean said if you said one more word, I will resent you to the admission office then you will never be registered in ***.

Well, I am not very familiar with the American college faculty professional code or regulations. So will any body tell me about this? I mean, is this propriate for the director and the dean said that to me? And is it inpropriate for me to contact the director about my problem? ( Before contacting him, I also contact the international student office and the school office and also the academic advisor, but the problem seems beyond their capacity and also I got different answers from different parties and documents I reviewed.

My spouse lost his D.L. to DUI 15 years ago. Since we are having trouble arranging the money to pay for an attorney to help him, I thought of a scooter so he can get around without me having to take him everywhere. I'm told that a D.L. isn't required for engines below a certain c.c. /speed. Does anyone know the laws regarding scooters in the state of Michigan?

first, let's get rid of year long insurance, let people change when they want...The insurance "racket"(since it's not legitimate business if anyone's ever dealt with them, would be forced to actually provide what they keep preaching, an entirely free market

Most states penalize you by suspending your license if you fail to meet your obligations under a child support order. I'm not claiming or encouraging fathers not to pay but how exactly is this a beneficial and effective tool to promote/encourage men to pay?

How is placing a license on suspension beneficial?

Here are my arguments;
You have to find alternative means to get to and from employment.
If you personally drive and get pulled over the punishment for driving with a suspended license is punishable by jail time.
If you're placed in jail you become further in debt as an obligee.
If you become further in debt, you'll find yourself struggling to make your personal ends meet because they're getting you for unpaid arrears.

So, exactly how is it beneficial to revoke someone's license?

Anyone have any alternative ideas?

I am quite sure he is pocketing the money!

Is it, or should it, be my responsibility to check that my money is reaching the right people or only that it is getting me to do what I need to do?

In particular, I go to the beach and the guy at the booth often neglects to give me the slip of paper after I pay the admission fee. Even though nobody checks, I am wondering whether in the name of morality I should insist that he give it to me.

Does it seem strange that if you miss payments or failed to pay arrears on time due to unemployment that the courts can suspend your license?

What good comes from suspending a license?

Thoughts?

Do you say something? We were discussing this at work today. One girl went to Wendy's & paid with a $20. The girl wasn't paying attention & gave her back her change & the $20. She told the cashier about it. But another time, at a bank, she was given extra money, about $100, & kept that. She would have returned it if they had discovered their mistake but they never did.

It always comes out of my mouth before I can stop it. At Pet Smart once the guy rang up two 40 lb boxes of litter & a big bag of dry cat food & then my other things. The bill was real low so I asked him if he had gotten what was in the cart. It didn't ring up for some reason. He thanked me for being honest. I knew it was the right thing to do but I still was kicking myself.

Another girl had mentioned a wrong bill a few times at a local drug store. The next time the two girls were talking. One was putting items in a bag before the other rang them up. This time the girl I know just let her do it.

I have been living in a domestic relationship for about 10 years and we are ready to call it quits. We bought a house together but it is in my name solely. I tried several times to get my partner to put his name on the mortgage but he refused. He also refused to involve himself in any of the bill paying claiming he had enough bookkeeping to do for a business he once owned. It has been several years now since he closed his business and has been working in as a car saleman, hardly makes any money and has contributed very little cash to the running of the house. I pay the mortgage, home insurance, property taxes, gas, electric, water, trash , newspaper, even his cell phone bill. Now because we are no longer in a real couple( in every sense of the word ) he wants me to sell the house and give him " HIS SHARE" !...Is there a way of getting him out without selling the house and spiltting the equity with him?

My elderly mother in law got a letter from her new neighour:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I UNDERSTAND IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THE FENCE BETWEEN OUR TWO PROPERTIES. AS I HAVE A LARGE DOG AND OBVIOUSLY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP HIM STRAYING ONTO YOUR PROPERTY WOULD YOU PLEASE SEE TO IT THAT A FENCE IS ERECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Poor mum. Her fence blew down a month or so before that curse moved in. The previous occupant promised to fix the fence for her.

Well mum erected the fence at a cost of about eight hundred pounds. Now I am visiting and neighbour is making my blood boil. Her German Shepherd pup (9 months) is barking the whole time anyone steps out of the house. I cannot take my (trained and quiet) Belgian Shepherd for a wee because of the disturbance.

Makes me so angry that this person should bully my mum into erecting a fence just to keep a dog THAT SHE CANNOT CONTROL AND SHOULD NOT OWN under control.

Dog is battering the fence with her jumping. Eventually i>>>
