My concern is I have never seen, any Eskimo, or Indian police officers. I am wanting to gain employment as a police officer in the furture; however I am not a caucasian female, I am only half. Do I still qualify, even if I am not full caucasian?

Okay, my Great-Aunt (by marriage) wrote a wonderful book back in the early 1990's. I had a copy of the book and just a couple of years ago, picked it up and read it. I was so inspired by the book that I thought it would make a great movie. I wrote a script for the book to submit to a film-making company...(dreaming big). Anyway, when the film company sent me the form to sign, it said that it had to be my original work. Well, the script is by me, but the book it is based off of is not. Both my Great-Aunt and Great-Uncle are deceased and I have no idea how to contact any heirs of theirs, since they died when I was young.
So my question is...
Would it be legal for me to submit this script, or do I need to clear it through heirs of my Great-Aunt?

I got fobbed off with a fake DVD from an e-bay seller. I'm in the UK and the seller was in the US. I went back to them to complain, but they are not being that helpful, saying I can send it back for a refund for the DVD (by the time I pay postage & pay-pal I'll be lucky to end up with £1 left !!!)

Now they say the DVD was not available in the US, but it is still clearly a fake - Is this legal for them to do this? Other than Pay-pal / e-bay is there anyone else I can take this to?

I was recently informed that because I was put on a3 week part-time (temporary schedule) that I was supposed to miss a pay but because the documentation was submitted late I got paid when I shouldnt have(mind you I was told the day before my direct deposit). I was never made aware that I was going to miss a pay nor has proper documentation been given to me still that this is the case, and when I requested info I was told that if I didnt sign a letter saying I agree that I would be fired. My check was 944.00 and they are requiring me to pay them 1166.00. No one can explain it to me and they also dont know where my incentive pay is that I was supposed to recieve that was well over 250.00 dollars. I was forced to sign papers that I didnt feel were legitimate or lose my job is this cause for a lawsuit ?

This happened in early august, I was driving at around 10pm at the speed of 80km/h.. I was going to overtake the car in front and i turned out.. I didn't see a motorcycle from the other side till we were quite close (approx. 100-150metres) and i couldn't turn back into my lane because a car was also speeding and already took the lane. I tried to swerve to the right bank then. but the motorcyclist, in an effort to stop, skidded on the road and i just hit him from my left wing. clipping the bike, the rider and the pillion rider with my wheel and dragging them for about 50metres. The rider died on the spot and the pillion rider had severe injuries.

Just the day before, i received a letter requesting compensation by the family of the injured rider totalling up to 15k. And i also have to wait for a court order from the police or government regarding the accident and the deceased. So any advice on what i should do?? I haven't tried a lawyer yet, very frustrated..

I'm form Malaysia btw.

If someone were to bring a baby (who had been abandoned) from Mexico and give it to us could we keep it? What kind of paperwork would we have to have? The baby would probably die if it wasn't given to someone.

Okay, a friend of mine is currently in jail because he's getting charges pressed against him for having sex with 3 minors.

One of the girls he had sex with was his g/f when they had the sexual relations and she got pregnant. Well, they broke up shortly after she had the baby and I'm pretty sure they remained friends.

I was just wondering...can that be counted against him since they were in a relationship at the time and she gave him consent (I guess it wouldn't be considered legal consent since she was only 16....) and her parents are not pressing charges?

Friend who is 17 has recently gotten more sexual with his 16 YO girlfriend. Not actual intercourse but just fingering her. Its in texas and the consenting age is 17 in Texas. But is masterbation of a 16 YO from a 17 YO against the law? Can the parents press charges? Anything else. Just want my bro to be safe with this. Thanks.

Today, my friend was wrongfully punished at school for using self-defense, so she would not get hurt. She threw one punch, strong enough to knock the assaultant off of her and give her time to run for it, and she got suspended for it. I plan to present an online petition to the school administrators to oppose their decisions to suspend her.

However, I believe that I cannot present the petition or even start the petition with no solid proof that people have the right to self-defense. Anything, even if it is null and void, it was still permitable, and we people constantly look to the past to start the future.

The link to my petition will be on this Q&A when I am able to start it. If you truly care about my friend, or even better, care about this topic, then please support me and my friends and sign the petition when it comes on. Thank you.

Or do you have to be warned first? Like, can someone sue you before asking you to take it off your site?

I purchased a 2nd hand washing machine back in July this year, and it was all good until the first one played up so the guy replaced it then a few weeks later that one started leaking so he replaced it again this time it was on the 15th September. We started noticing grease marks on our clothes, by the time we realised it was from the machine the 2 months warranty was out of date, however he told me he would get someone out to look at it for me and now hes saying that he didnt say that at all. What I want to know is this; does anyone know what amount of warranty is correct, i was told that most 2nd hand places give 3 months warranty, I have looked on the consumer affair and office of fair trading and cant seem to work their website out, i cant find anything on warranties. Any help either from personal experience or someone who may know where in the website i can find this particular information would be appreiated. Thanks
Deb

This is similar to my other question I asked an hour ago. It is somewhat different, however.

Here are the facts of my situation:
1. I haven't been able to find work

2. I have no bank account (no savings/checking)

3. I live at home with my parents at the moment (sadly)

4. I don't own a car due to #: 1 & 2 above

5. I don't own any real estate. In fact, the only thing I really own are books, computer, printer, clothes, TV, and a radio.

These are the facts concerning the Sallie Mae loan:

6. The loan was for under 7,000.00 and was for college

7. I had a cosigner who agreed to cosign the loan.

8. The cosigner is now unreachable and the only income she receives now is SSI and VA (vetrans assistance)

9. The loan defaulted and my credit report says it was "charged off" (huh? what does that mean?)

11. An attorney now wants to sue me.

What is the worst that can happen to me given my aforementioned situation?

Ok I am asking this question for a close friend of mine and to clear my head some. My good friend who choose me as his childs godfather just lost his son tonight thanks to CPS.
Basically here is what happened someone called CPS and claimed that my friend and his wife were not taking care of thier child properly and he was developementally behind. Cps gets involved and says everything is fine they just need to investigate. They told him and his wife that they have no intention of taking the child. They did ask him and her to take some classes and asked them to voluntarily have a home assist for a couple of months. They did everything that was asked of them and complied. My friends wife was put in the hospital during this time with a tumor on her spine. She was in the hospital for 3 months and just came home today. That is when the sheriff's show up at his door with a court order forcing them to give up the child.
Why can they ruin a family like this. when there are real abuse cases?

I purchased a hot air balloon ride for my wife and I for her anniversary and we have never been able to use it. We have gone mulitple times to 'fly' but each time the company cancelled on us. I have lost time from work for this and I am tired of dealing with them. I know I will never get to fly and I am upset and don't want to go with these people.

Can anyone let me know if there is a consumer protection policy in the state of washington that will allow me to get a refund. We were never told that we could not get a refund in the beggining and they have no such policy on thier website but they now claim that they do not have to give us any refund.

What action can I take to resolve this? Is there any law that protects me in the State of Washington?

I drive for local towing and roadside assistance co. one day the boss was off, I was alone til a co-worker arrived. it was slow so she ended up sitting at office while I handled calls. She decided to drive home and back in a tow truck and got into accident. report was made. next day she came to work but ended up quitting before boss finds out. ins. contacts boss. boss furious but employee is no longer there. he turns to me and says "Your fired until you go bring her here and she straightens mess out!" I'm not management but I did as told. He still fired me as he was'nt happy with outcome. He kept my deposit of $600 that was to be refunded unless I damage something. He said to get it from her cause he is using mine so she owes me. he told her that it was her fault I am fired to make her feel guilty. I'm going to do something about this! any advice is appreciated.
