They have fewer rights than you have to your home because a retail business has invited the public in and can not exclude individuals without cause because of public accommodation laws. There are also government regulations particularly zoning that business owners must abide by. For example you can not open a gas station on property you own in a residential neighborhood or a bar next to a school.
