I have a 2ft tank with guppies and neon tetra`s and a 4ft tank with a small Oscar, parrot fish and a cat fish. Both tanks have alot of trumpet snails in them. The temp of both tanks is about 80F.
The question is that in my 2ft tank you can always see lots of snails and baby snails on glass and plants at day or night but in my 4ft i can stare at tank for ages and not see a single one, why is this?

Thanx for taking time to read and answer.

yesterday i got a gold barb so now i have two gold barbs..
i look at the smaller one today and it has white spots on the end of its fins....

im thinking of transfering it to the smaller 3.5 gallon tank till it gets better. the only medication i have is Maracyn
cuz im assuming that it has fungus.
it eats, its active

so how can i treat it without hurting it?
all my previous fish pasesd away after i used maracyn so im extreamly hesitant about using it. especially on such a small fish.

He was the most active in the group, and the other day I noticed he was just sitting there doing nothing. He's angled up towards the top of the tank, and just wades in one spot mostly. The other three mollies I have seem to be fine, they're more active than ever. I tried feeding him, and most of the time I noticed he would take food in his mouth and spit it out right away.

We just bought 2 baby guppies. My mom wants to put them in a large vase with some sort of plant living on the top. Will this hurt the guppies? if not, what kind of plant should be used?

I recently bought a siamese fighting fish and forgot to ask the shopkeeper something. And I wondered if any of you could help me. I believe it's a question asked frequently, but somehow I seem to forget the answer.

So, how many days should it pass before I change the water?

Hi i have recently set up a fish room, It has 35 tanks (30 of them are 10 gallon tanks) (currently cycling)And i want to put an apple snail in each tank to clean up excess food, But i know fish rest at the bottom of the tank at night, So would the apple snails eat the fry (guppie fry) when they were at the bottom of the tank, ? And in a coupple of months i plan on making another fish room with 60+ tanks for platie and mollies would it be ok to put snails in with those..(platie,mollie,guppie)In all there will be about 90 , 10 gallon tanks and about 10 other diffrent sized tanks, So in all i would need about 90 apple snails, Would this be ok, And has anyone had good luck with these snails, Good/ bad points about them? Thanks

I am looking at building a 125 gallon aquarium (over a ton of water) and I was wondering if 1/2" acrylic would hold up on the sides as well or better than glass.

Do you have any suggestions for building?

Thanks

If I am sick during the week, or on vacation, there WILL be someone who can feed it regularly throughout the week. I'm just wondering if it's ok if it's not fed after 5pm on Friday, until I get back to work at 8am on Monday.

Today, I noticed while feeding them, that my fish has lost a eye. It looks like where the eye was, is healed. It is eating, and swimming fine. But, I am wondering why it lost it's eye? Is this normal? Will my fish die?

I have black fin, and Neon Tetras in my aquarium. My 3 year old nephew dumped a whole can of fish flakes into the tank and in a hurry I needed to get them out. The water was entirely orange. By the time anyone knew what had happened, the fish had been in this tank filled with fish flakes for about 30 minutes(at the most). One of the Neons did die. I took all the fish out so I can clean the tank. I put the fish in water treated with aquasafe and then rinsed the entire fish tank. after the rinsing I put spring water treated with aquasafe back in the tank, changed the filter, and put the rocks back in. Now my fish are back in the tank, but 2 of the black fins and 1 of the neons are losing their fins. Is this caused by stress? What should I do?

I don't really have the time or money to buy a lot of chemicals for my two little goldfish.
But their water is getting kind of cloudy.
Is there any natural way to clear the water without hurting the fish?

I have a male Beta fish and I was thinking of getting him a female Beta. Do you think if I do that he will try to kill her? I know they are mean fish, so I really don't want a war on my hands.
What do you think?

It had babies yesterday, but died after having a couple. I think she may have had them prematurely because some were still eggs and they didn't make it. My question is: Is there a special food for babies? Or do I just crush the flakes so they can eat them?
