You're adding too many to the bowl at once and ammonia is killing them. If some are dead before you get home then you also have a bad supplier of feeders, they should at least make it home in the bag.

Try a larger container for them and add fewer at the time, that should keep them alive and fresh.

First of all most snakes eat mice or rats. So you might want to check with your vet to make sure you are feeding your snake the correct food.
Now on to the question about your fish dieing. Feeder goldfish in the store are not always kept in the best of conditions. So they are very stressed out when you buy them from the store. Moving them to a new location is also very stressful for them. That is most likely why they are dieing in the bag on the way home. When you do get them home they should be kept in a large tank that is well filtered. Since they are goldfish I would put some aquarium salt in the tank , about 1/4 tsp per gallon should be about right. The salt will help easies the stress and should take care of most illness that the goldfish might be carring.

Hola! You need to check your nitrates which is a great cause for fish death. If you have to many nitrates your water will have a drastic effect on your fish (i mean death). Your nitrates will probably change if you keep changing the water in the bowl or if you dont change it enough. If you do change it frequently you wont be able to let natural bacteria develop in the water and this will make an unhealthy bowl. If you dont change it there might be too many nitrates. I recommend getting some nitrate strips, and also getting some bottled tank bacteria which you will need to add when the nitrates hit higher than 1mg/ no2. Also if the nitrates are 3 mg/ no2 or over take out half the water refill it and add some bacteria. Also depending on how big your bowls are u will need to ask ur fish store how much bacteria to put in depending on the amount of water it holds. I think this is your problem for the fish dieing at home, but i have no clue in the bags, are they slopped around alot? Good Luck

goldfish need very large cycled filtered tanks to live for any period of time. they're very messy fish and pollute a bowl very quickly. in order for them to live in a bowl it would have to have a 100% water change everyday, however this constantly fluctuating water and changing environment would have ill effects on the fish also, which is why they need a large heavily filtered tank that gets a good clean out once a week.

why are you feeding your snake fish and not pinkies? if you insist on goldfish, you don't want to feed your precious snake sick goldfish in the first place, which most of the time, cheap feeder goldfish are. if you must feed with fish why not try rosy red minnows instead? and try breeding your own feeder fish, that way you save money AND are more likely to have healthy stock.

i dont think ur suppose to feed goldfish to a snake? well get a 2 gallon fish tank, that will probably hold 4-5 w/filter u should try small amounts of fish like 5? and when they grow big feed them but it takes about years to grow very big ! also float bag of LIVE goldfish for 15 minswen u get then also wen u change the water well good luck with ur snake + fish!!

Didn't I just answer this one..? Weird.

You can't keep goldfish in a bowl, hun. It's not gonna work. You need 10 gallons per fish to keep them alive any decent period of time. If you're feeding them to a snake, I can't imagine you're going through many at a time.

And what on earth breed of snake are you feeding them to?

they need the right temperature, PH, and to be free of diseases..... just like any other fish..

check the temperature of the water (60-70F is perfect)

check the PH - should be 7. any increases or drops beyond .5 will kill them - that includes when you bring them home and put them into the tank to begin with - remember they are used to the petshop water.... and it includes when you clean the tank out - check the PH of the water you are putting in and make sure its the same as the water already in the tank (which should be close to 7).

also, you could be bringing home infected fish. new fish when brought home should be put into quarantine (another tank) until they are treated for fungal, bacterial and parasites or until its been long enough to assume they are disease free.

if they are dead before you even get home, return them to the petshop and get more or your money back!

Try a different pet shop it sounds like they are having problems before you get them home.
