Crickets, grasshoppers, worms.... all manner of small bugs and worms will suit them wonderfully. Visit a local bait shop, they will have all the sunfish food you need at a very fair price.

I have sunfish in my pond. I feed them goldfish pellets and then twice a week I buy 20 or so crickets from the pet store. I also throw in any worms that I can dig up when the weather is right.

I've kept green sunfish, bluegill, and pumpkinseeds and all did fine eating cichlid pellets as the main food. But they liked the insects and worms they got for treats as well.

There's a pond fish food called "Lunker Maker" that's available in farm stores for people who raise sunfish, bass, and catfish that I've used too. It's a large pellet, but softens fairly quickly so smaller fish can eat it. It comes in a 20 lb bag for around $10 (in my area), but that might be a little more than you want to keep on hand.
