I recently bought a siamese fighting fish and forgot to ask the shopkeeper something. And I wondered if any of you could help me. I believe it's a question asked frequently, but somehow I seem to forget the answer.

So, how many days should it pass before I change the water?

That depends on what size container you are keeping him in and if it has a filter or not. For a 1 gallon or smaller bowl, change 100% of the water once every 2-3 days. For a larger but unfiltered container, once every week change 100% of the water. For a filter container 2.5 gallons or larger 25% oncea week will be fine.

If you have it in a bowl without circulation, I would change it once every week if you feed only 3-5 pellets of Betta food every other day. If you have a small tank with a filter (not just an airstone with bubbles) then you should do a small water change every 2 weeks (20-25 % water change). This is a highly talked about topic since everyone seems to do it differently, but the main thing is to keep your fish happy and healthy.

If it is a filtered aquarium, about 25% every two weeks. If it is a bowl, about 25% every 5-7 days and consider a small filtered aquarium as a proper home for the fish.
