I come home from work today and my 55 gallon community tank all of a sudden is cloudy....there are just a bunch of community fish in there and a few plants. Could it be the filter? should i rinse out everything in the filter. I dont know if ther reason could be because i put two plants in there that were from another one of my tanks that had brown algae in it. What could it be and what can i do to fix it?

I have a young axolotl and I know that they are advised to not live with other fish. I have an albino african clawed frog and I was wondering if they would be ok together. They are about the same size. They are both bottom dwelling slug-ish creatures, that I feel that they would be ok together.

I was thinking of starting off small, but i want a big tank like maybe a 80 gallon of something, anyone think starting off small is better than having a big tank, I want to put the pistol shrimp and watchman goby fish in there, if anyone has any sites or books that are good for like learning how to setup a salt water aquarium it will be really appreciated

i was thinking
july-september: plant plants and let them grow for 2 months
october-november: slowly add groups of community fish
december: add the bigger sized fish

also, is it normal to want to bite of the heads of chichlids, when you see them?

ive had my fish in an aquarium for a month now. the original fish which were bought (5 of them) have all died within the first 2 or 3 weeks after buying them (actually, there is still 1 left- its a small reddish colored fish, not a goldfish) all of the neon tetras also died.

we did a water test at a pet store and it is fine. o- and we have freshwater, and all those fis are for freshwater, and our food seems to be OK- tropical flakes

i also have a new filter and an oxygen tube blowing bubbles.

so thats the problem??

I went to check the mail and when i came back in my son had put one of those gel airfreshener jars in the tank. I started draining it immedieatly but I can't get the fish out untill it is almost empty because I don't have a net big enough for him and anything else I try to use he jumps out of. Do you think he will be o.k until I can get him out in about 10 minutes.

i have 3 angels in my tank and i just added a peice of drift wood. i soaked the drift wood until it was water logged and then i moved my angel fish from my downstairs tank to the one in my room. The angel fish are fine but they seem kindof in shock. is it because the water is acidic from the wood? if so how can i get rid of it?

thanx

I have just purchased a 75 gallen tank for my wife and I.I have owned Oscars and a few cichlids in the past.I wont get Oscars again.I enjoyed my Cichlids even though there were only 5 in a 10 gallen tank.Im trying to learn more about them before purchasing.I enjoy the African Cichlids more.Anyone recommend any sites?I am looking to see the amount and what type.Of course the wife likes the ones that are colorful. She loves the Peacocks. She also likes the Red Jewels.Although I dont know about mixing them.I have already started buying some rocks and a few Articles of wood.Im using some good size pebbles at the bottom cause I hear they dig alot.Im looking for some good sites and some help on what would go best and how many.(Oh yeah, Ive heard Lake Malawi offers some good Cichlids

...with my aquarium. I have had 6 zebra danios and 3 marble mollies in it for about 8 weeks, all was going well... until recently. They started hanging at the top of the tank all the time, and then slowly, some of the danios were swimming on their sides and upside down etc. - I belive this was a bladder infection. I lost 3 of the danios. I gave the tank a good clean last week, and a 40% water change - and I have since lost ALL of my fish...!
The mollies and 2 of the danios seemed to be dead - but at the BOTTOM of the tank - when I went to get them out, they were actually still alive, but only just. Why were they sinking, not floating??
I have a small amount of brown algae on the rocks/glass - so I was thinking of getting an Oto to get that sorted, but I am worried that the water my be 'polluted' from all the sick fish...
My question is, now I have an empty tank again, shall I do a partial water change before I add any more fish, or should I start over and clean/change it all??

I have a horse, 3 rottweilers, a cat, and a hamster. I'm constantly exposed to animals. I also have 8 fancy goldfish. Obviously I don't want cross contamination so I have to wash my hands before putting them in the tank (if I have to, i'm not saying I do this all the time). Is there any soap that would be better than another for me to use? I don't want to get any soap into the tank but at the same time I don't want all the animal germs getting in there either!

I'm starting a 26 gallon Saltwater Tank. Fish only with Live Rock. How much live rock, live sand, lighting(as well as type) will i need for the 26 gallon? Preferably I'd like to keep costs down, I've heard of tanks getting by with just biofiltration and not using a protein skimmer. Other's swear by it. I'll only be keeping 2 clownfish in the tank. In all likelihood, no anenome...yet.

A list of what i need for this type of tank would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's really important that I find this artice. It was on animal planet or something. Some guy's fish couldnt swim anymore so he made a contraption that enabled it to swim. I've googled for a while now and can't find anything. Anyone know anything about this story? Thanks!

About 2-3 weeks ago, I found my 6 year old goldfish at the bottom of the tank on his side. I tested the pH levels which were low but it has always been low since I use distilled water so I don't think that is the problem. The second day, Goldie began to get finrot which cleared up within 3 days of using antibiotics. About that time, Goldie seemed much better, sitting up straight and able to swim strait for about 10 seconds. The first 3 days, when he tried to swim, he would swim backwards for a few seconds and then go back to lying on his side. 2-3 weeks later, he seems healthy but is still at the bottom of the tank but strait up at least. He is going to starve if nothing is done. I have been buying sinking food and have tried lifting Goldie to the top of the tank to eat... which works sometimes

The ammonia level is very low. No outward signs of disease. I've been keeping the water clean. I've been using stress-coat. I feel so helpless, what can I do?
