If i notice that i got guppies and none of them are trying to get pregant what should i do!?

Even when a male and female start to begin trying to have babies the female runs away! whats going on!

you should just wait and give then time because if they are just being born then they have to wait awhile to get used to your place.

She may not be ready to breed...be patient. They'll breed when they're ready and able. If you're dead set on breeding your guppies, I've included a few tips on what to do/check to help initiate the breeding process:

1) First - check your female to male ratio. With most fish, especially livebearers (which include Guppies), I find the sex drive of the males is too much for just one female. Try to have at least 3 females to every one male in the tank. This way, when the male is ready to mate (which is practically all the time) he can spread the agression to more than just one female and help alleviate undue stress on a single female. Plus, it'll give you a better chance of having a female ready to breed.

2) Try to keep your guppies seperate until you're ready to breed them. Ideally, you'll want a male tank, a female tank and a breeding tank. (This isn't required, but it helps!)

3) Make sure your water parameters are good, the temperature is correct (78) and the water stays clean. A bad environment leads to stress, and stress leads to fish that will not breed. The general rule is Happy Fishies Make Babies!

4) Make sure your guppies are old enough to breed. Typically, Guppies under 3 months will not breed.

All of this said and done, remember the gestation period for a Guppy is about 3-4 weeks. Also - just because you don't see the female conceive doesn't mean they haven't breeded!

I had 4 tanks with all kinds of fish for 7 years and NEVER saw first baby. not that any were never born......
