My pet oscar that I got from the pet store about a week ago just sits in the corner of my 10 gallon tank. He's like 2 inches. I had him in my bigger tank with my 2 sucker-fish and 2 larger oscars and he swam usually following the oscars but the next day when I woke up he was all beat up so I put him in my 10 gallon by himself but now he just sits in the corner. I've seen him eat only 2 little pellets of food since I got him. Is he sitting in the corner because he's beat up, or because he's lonely? When I had him in my bigger tank with my oscars he was always swimming with them. Also how long will it take for his body to heal.

What's the easiest way to move my tank, and what's the safest thing to do with my fish in the process. It's a 30 gallon with african cichilds.

hey so yeah, is that to many fish for a 5 gallon tank?

i originally only had 2 guppies, 1 dwarf, and 1 honey gourami
but when i went to our more fancy aquarium store today to buy one fancy snake skin looking guppy, they said i had to buy a female with it, adding my guppy count to 4
is this ok?
or if its not, what should i kill/ return lol

I've had him for about a week, and after I got him I read that clown loaches do better with mates, so I got another one. Before that he was shaking violently and hiding all the time. But with the introduction of the second clown loach he seemed much better. But today I came home from work and he is swimming at the top of the tank, in a vertical line. He will go down now and then but spends most of his time up there. When I googled it, this seemed to mean imminent death. Is there a way to stop whatever is wrong?

I'm about to start up a salt water fish tank. I have all the filters and heater and whatnot to use already. It's a 40 gallon octagon tank. I guess my question is what's the best way to get all the supplies such as salt, sand, testers, ect.. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this, just a live rock with a few fish for now. Is there a place online where I can buy everything in one kit?? That would probably help the most instead of getting ripped off by a pet shop. I have helped my brother set up his salt water tank but he bought all of the items individually.

I want to know all of them, cuz I added Ph to the water yesterday and one of my freshwater fish (a shark) died. He was blue and red....poor thing! :( I need to know if he was just stunned or not, although other fish were picking at him like cannibals.

My fish keeps dying. Their fins deteriorate and they sometimes get white spots. Its mostly the fins that worry me. We checked the temperature, so it can't be that. They are well fed and have enough oxygen. The tank is automatically filtered. Does anyone know what's killing my fish?

It is laying upside down in a plant, occasionally thrashing its tail fin, and breathing regularly. I wish I had a paramedic fish in there!

My dear hubby has a 3,000 gallon koi pond in our back yard, and I want to get him a color underwater video camera for Father's Day - I have seen these marketed as "Koi Cam" so you can watch your fish 24/7 just by plugging a cable into your TV or computer monitor. Does anyone have one of these Koi Cams, and if so, what do you think? Would you recommend it? Also, there are lots of surveillance cameras out that film in color, are suitable for an underwater application, etc. - what brand/features do you recommend, and what price range should I expect to pay? Any advice would be MOST welcome!

I'm pretty sure my Xingu Pike, "Itchy" has gill flukes. Is it okay to use Jungle Parasite clear on him? He doesn't look like he has scales (or they're tiny) kinda like a loach's smooth skin. I know this can make fish more sensative to medications. Is he in that category & Is that an okay medication to use?

I am currently cycling my 2.5 gallon tank with two little fish in it. It has been about 8-10 hours since i first put the fish in, and so far the ammonia reads 0.25 nitrite 0.3 and nitrate 12.5.

When should i change the water, at what levels? and what levels should i not let the water reach?

When changing water or siphoning it out should i keep the fish in the tank or place them somewhere else?

How should i prepare the water i will be adding to the tank?

Also i have some java moss in the tank, how will that affect the cycling process?
