I'm pretty sure my Xingu Pike, "Itchy" has gill flukes. Is it okay to use Jungle Parasite clear on him? He doesn't look like he has scales (or they're tiny) kinda like a loach's smooth skin. I know this can make fish more sensative to medications. Is he in that category & Is that an okay medication to use?

Praziquantel is a fine choice. It is totally harmless to all fish, in the proper dosage of course. It should clear the problem in just a few days if that long. Many times a single dose and 24 hours will clear gill flukes.

Praziquantel is generally used for internal parasites such as nematodes. This may be effective, although is not the drug of choice here (albeit a safe one when administered properly).

Trichlorfon is the drug of choice for flukes, although his drug is more dangerous to silver scaled fish such as silver dollars. Pikes do not fall into this category and should have no problem with Trichlorfon.
Potasium Permanganate can also be used, although this is an oxidizer and can cause problems with oxygen levels in some tanks.

Slowly acclimate the fish to your tank water. Use an antibiotic dip if you can. Ideally have a quarantine tank set up. Isolate the fish for two weeks in the quarantine tank. Keep a close eye on the fish once it's in your tank. Prevention is better than intervention.
