I am a novice at fish keeping so i wont be keeping salt water fish for a while but i am intrested and i was wondering how hard it would be to keep sea horses?

I am at my wits end......
I have had my tank for approx a year, 80 litres with no problems. The fish have been healthy.
I had a outbreak of snails recently, in which on seeking advice i purchased two clown loach to eat them. Within 4 days the Loach went down with a bad case of white spot and infected two other fish. I was treating the whitespot with Esha Exit. I treated them for over two weeks, in the end the Loach died but my other two fish seem to have come through it. Before the last Loach died one of my Gouramis went down with a cloudy eye, again went and bought some Melafix, didnt work, so bought some Esha 2000, didnt work. I had the fish in a nursery net because i dont have a hospital tank. Gradually a hole appeared in the eye the Gourami stopped eating and it died. Done 25% water change, now my plants are growing black hair! what is going on. Could it be the PH or Nitrates all out of sync due to the meds? please help.

Is it normal to spend alot of time near the serface of the water, or could this be a sign of something wrong?
There are 4, 2 male and 2 female.
They stay near the serface of the water, not all the time they do swim done every now and then and swim about.
I just think thats it seems strange that they would spend so much time up there.

My boyfriend purchased two elephant nose fish. Our tank is big andn they both have a cave each at each end of it so they don't have to see eachother. One seems timid and afraid, and doesn't seem to get alot of food to eat and the other one is thriving. The timid fish has got marks on it as if it's been attacked. I've read that it is best to only keep one elephant nose fish or more then two together. (by the way it wasn't my decision to purchase two, if it was my choice i would of only brought one!)

i noticed that one of my fish had a few spot on his head, they looked like tiny bubbles that's stuck to his head. is this 'ich'? will my other fishes contract this? i put in medicine for the ich and raised the temperature a bit. would that get rid of the 'ich' or will all my fish die?

My tank is hugeeeee. About 4 feet in length. Got other fish also -
4 parrot Fishes, Two blue gouramis, Two blue onkaras, Two Oscars, 6 Tiger Barbs, 4 rosie barbs, 4 silver dollars, 2 Tin foils, 2 Pink tiger sharks, 2 Scats. There are Two Filters. Other fish dont do anything like coming up to the surface of the water

I have a black fish that had big pouches under his eyes (sorry I dont know what they are called) but a few weeks ago the black skin came off the pouches and they burst and now he isnt black anymore he is a goldy/silver colour but he still looks happy and healthy does anyone know what this could be?

so i bought 2 tiger barbs today 1 male and 1 female... the female is not yet so fat with eggs and i was wondering when can i put them together 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.....days. And will the female lays her eggs even if there are no male around.... i was wondering about that cuz i might not notice that the female is full of eggs already that she is ready to lay her eggs and yet the eggs may not get fertilized.....and when she lays her eggs already how many days is she gonna be full of eggs that i can let them spawn together.....i want to breed them in a 2 gallon tank is this ok, so that they will come in contact with each other. the setting of my tank is um.....it has a rock that has holes and very little corkscrew val. plant. so can they breed? wer do u think they will lay the eggs in the rock or in the very small cluster of plants?

I bought my oranda a new playmate yesterday, he was fine for about 6 hours but then last night i noticed he was on his back at the bottom of the tank, he moves if you go near the tank but then he nose dives to the bottom where he stays doing hand stands, i've obviously got a dodgy one

Yes, I know they are pond fish...but I absolutely love these fish. I live in NYC, so I dont have a pond. But I'm getting ready to move into a loft and I have more than enough space for the right size aquarium, I want my aquarium to have:

2 Koi
2 Butterfly Koi
I am positive that I won't have more than 4 Koi fish in the aquarium..

As far as tank mates, I want about or maybe more of:

4 Calico Shunbunkins
4 Comets
4 Rynkin
2 Moors
5 Veiltails

What size Tank would you recommend for these fish?
Feel free to provide any advice..Thanks in Advance
