Since your tank is new it needs to cycle. This means that the beneficial bacteria that break down fish waste and control ammonia in the tank need time to build up and start doing there job.

It can take a couple of weeks up to a month for this to happen in a salt water tank.

I know your first urge is to do massive water changes, or tear the tank down and start over. DONT DO IT BECAUSE YOU WILL JUST RUN INTO THE SAME THING AGAIN.

20 to 30 percent water changes once a week, along with normal maintenance is all you need to do.

This is defiantly a time where patience is a virtue.

After the tank is cycled, you can get a protein skimmer to help remove dissolved organic matter in the water, this will keep the water crystal clear.

How long has your tank been running? What are you using, sand, coral or gravel? Did you clean it well. SOunds to me like your tank has new tank syndrome.

If you are running powerheads and have good water movement, that is a good thing here. The tank will settle

Don't rush this. If it is a problem for you while your tank cycles, you can turn your filters and powerheads off for about a half hour. This will settle the tank. Then you can restart them. Since you have no fish it isn't going to hurt anything.

Feel free to email me if you need additional info on your cloudy tank.

if you just started the tank, the water is cycling through. This is a normal thing. The water will clear up in a few days. We have 4 tanks here plus 3 at work.

if you just bought the tank. Dont worry. It'll soon clean up. The filters need a little time to do their job.
If youve bought the tank a few days before, call the person from whom you got it. This shouldnt happen. i suspect that your filters are faulty.

Take the fish out that are crapping all the time and clouding up the water. If you're not gonna do that, drop your pants, hold your butt over the tank, and pinch one off. If you refuse to clean it, you might as well do this.
