We have an outdoor pond (5,000gal) lots of goldfish and some koi. We have been here two years and this has never happened. We have had some blanket algae problems but seemed to keep them under control, But lately there is floating algae in the pond. The water is clear. We don't want to add a lot of chemicals as we plan to tear it down and clean it. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the algae without spending a bundle?

I just cleaned out my fish tank and the filter. when I plugged the filter back in it wont come on. Im hoping it will come back. can you tell me what I may have did? What can I do to maybe fix it.

I didnt get it wet or anything just cleaned the filters and put them back in and thats all.

Sometimes It does this and I can shake the pipe that brings the water in and it comes back on. No luck this time.

One of my angelfish has fin rot I think. The top of his tail sags a bit and his eyes are all red. Will the fin rot spread to other fish? Also, what's the best way to treat fin rot? Thanks a lot to whoever answers.

The plecostamous is about 6 inches long and the redtail shark is about 5 inches and very aggresive to other fish (angelfish, neons, etc). Now I am switching my 50 gallon tank to ciclids and wondering if I could keep the plecotamous and the redtail. Would the ciclids hurt them and would the water ph level be ok?

I currently just bought a 3 gal Marineland Eclipse 3 fish tank with the right size cartridge and bio wheel. My old tank didnt have that. About a week after I cleaned and treated the water and put my Tetras in the tank my water turned smokey, makes it hard to see the fish with out the light on. The fish move around fine in it still. I just don't know how to get rid of the smokey water color or what caused that being I have a newer tank I am not familiar with how to trouble shoot it or if I should start over?

i found out that my goldfish has fin rot...

i got the medicine for him and it says to put in a tablespoons of it in a 10 gallon tank

but his tank cant be more then 3 or 4 gallons so we only put 2 teaspoons in because were guessing its a 2 gallon tank
do you just put it in the tank?

but the tank is so small and theres not a filter
do you have to take a certian amout of water out each day?

its hard because my moms been cleaning the tank but she wont be home for another week and im scared to do anything with it on my own (but i will if i need to)
and also this fish is about 10 years old..

has anyone else experianced this?

im looking to get a pufferfish, but im in the process of reserching abit about them at the moment to make sure i can provide and care for it properly. Ive been on websites to see what the smallest kind you can get is, i visited a local aquarium today and they have some green spotted puffers which where only around 5cm big? are the just babys? or have they not been able to grow due to crowed conditions in the shops? websites say they average 10cms in a tank set up, and that figure 8 puffers average 6cm, is this correct?
whats the minimum tank size to keep them in if you get the smallest one? i dont want big puffers...would prefure smaller ones. im aware they are brackish and only eat live food, cannot be kept with other fish...
thanx for any help

The other day me and some other people were discusing fish ich. We were having an arguement about if it is always inthe water and only attaches to sick fish, or if it is brought in. Is there a way to test this without like hurting any fish, like would you be able to see the parasites in the water under a microscope?

I've had my fish tank for about a month now and it has 2 serpae tetras, 2 zebra danios and 1 tiger barb (all were under 1/2 an inch when i got them and are growing great) Unlike people have told me, the tank is working out great and the fish barely nip at each other. I woke up this morning and saw a lot of algae by my heater and I was wondering if I should get a fish to clean the tank.
