I just cleaned out my fish tank and the filter. when I plugged the filter back in it wont come on. Im hoping it will come back. can you tell me what I may have did? What can I do to maybe fix it.

I didnt get it wet or anything just cleaned the filters and put them back in and thats all.

Sometimes It does this and I can shake the pipe that brings the water in and it comes back on. No luck this time.

If its making sound like a straining motor then it will probably work again. Yank the tube out and examine the impeller. Its probably got some crap wrapped around it. Fill it up with water & jiggle the impeller back into place. This sort of thing happens after sand gets into the motor box or thread / hair gets wrapped around the impeller shaft.

You need to clean the housing and impeller. There are nasty things that get into the impeller housing. the hole at the bottom. clean it out every time you clean the impeller, filter and intake pipe. Hitting it on the sink doesn't fix anything. Good Luck..><>:)

what kind of filter is it? If it's one that hangs over the back, sometimes you need to jiggle around the tube that goes into it...the magnetic propeller might be misaligned....also make sure there is water in the filter
