Get off the computer and ask her what she needs help with. You have to prove yourself to your mom, and she will be glad for the help. Look around. Are the dishes done? Stuff picked up? Be ambitious. Let her know that you are serious about a fish tank and are willing to clean it and take care of your fish. Good luck!

When I was in Jr High I wanted a pair of Doc Martens so bad, but my mom wouldn't buy them for me because they were $100. Now that I'm older I know that's BS because she spends that much on new shoes all the time!]

But anyways.

What I did was I did a deep clean in the kitchen one day while she was at work. I cleaned out all of the old food in the fridge and cabinets, washed all of the shelves and counters, organized the hell out of everything, did dishes, mopped, et cetera. She had no choice but to buy me the shoes. I still have them, too, about 15 years later!

Another thing might be to offer to mow your neighbors lawns or walk dogs for cash. If they know you are trying to save for something specific they will totally pay you, and maybe even tip you!

I got my first fish tank at a garage sale. I wish you lived near me, I have lots of old aquarium equipment I could give you!! You can hit up a salvation army/goodwill type store, too. Then buy some good, new equipment for the rest.

Tell her what you want to do, and make sure she isn't going to get stuck cleaning that aquarium. Get books at the library and read up on aquariums, moms like to see their kids reading and learning.

Work a little harder than usual. If she has a lot of things on her hadns, and you have time to spare, spend it helping her. Also help out with your dad too, so it doesn't seem like you're sucking up, helping younger siblings might help too...

Ask if there are any extra chores you can do to earn an allowance. Tell her what you are trying to save up for.

Do the chores without asking and get your grades up. Then she will start seeing the effort and might even get it for you because she knows that yo really want it and have been working really hard to get it.

If you work hard at the chores that you are given and volunteer to do chores that you weren't given and don't complain, then this will prove that you can work hard.
