One of my angelfish has fin rot I think. The top of his tail sags a bit and his eyes are all red. Will the fin rot spread to other fish? Also, what's the best way to treat fin rot? Thanks a lot to whoever answers.

Is the spot in the iris, or like a coating on the eye itself?

If the spot is in the eye itself, it may be a harmless mote that can develop in some fish.

However, if the red spot is fluffy or raised off the normal surface of the eye, it is probably a bacterial infection.

If this seems to be the case, try dosing the tank with aquarium salt and QuickCure. These two combined may weaken or kill the infection.

Fin Rot leaves a white edge around the tail. If that is the case, you can get a cure at any pet store, but frequent water changes also do the trick.

First, make sure you have the right diagnosis I'll provide some links at the end. There are two causes for fin rot and the first webpage has a description for both. If this is fungal, use malachite green. If bacterial, follow the advice in the second link.

First issues first: pass him out of the tank to a quarantine tank (which you will have, besides). in case you haven't any longer have been given one, you will could make do with a bucket. Get something to aerate the water/disturb the exterior (including a tiny powerhead; a pair of air stones must be utilized in a pinch to boot). If a decision is accessible, verify to pick a field it is "massive" in terms of "quite some floor section." huge or long is extra perfect than tall. continuously carry out drugs outdoors of the tank. you do no longer pick drugs leaching into the decor and substrate. very nicely, with all that stated, if he's wounded, antibiotics could be a sturdy direction to think approximately even whether it particularly is no longer the main suitable reason. talk on your interior reach fish shop and notice what they have. evaluate something alongside the lines of extensive spectrum antibiotics (i.e., no longer something that replaced into in particular made for any single infectious source or agent) and shop on with the dosage. finally, if he's on the element that he has hassle eating, he could finally end up dying. it is maximum suitable which you enable it runs its direction and notice whether or no longer he recovers. on a similar time as i've got lost some fish, i've got additionally seen some dazzling recoveries.

I dont think that it is fin rot; if it affects the eyes it is something more...and you must place the sick fish in another tank just to be safe.
