so i bought 2 tiger barbs today 1 male and 1 female... the female is not yet so fat with eggs and i was wondering when can i put them together 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.....days. And will the female lays her eggs even if there are no male around.... i was wondering about that cuz i might not notice that the female is full of eggs already that she is ready to lay her eggs and yet the eggs may not get fertilized.....and when she lays her eggs already how many days is she gonna be full of eggs that i can let them spawn together.....i want to breed them in a 2 gallon tank is this ok, so that they will come in contact with each other. the setting of my tank is um.....it has a rock that has holes and very little corkscrew val. plant. so can they breed? wer do u think they will lay the eggs in the rock or in the very small cluster of plants?

2 gallons is too small for tiger barbs, they're more likely to rip each other up than breed. their tank should be a MINIMUM of 24" in length.
they should be in a school of at least 6 to spread the aggression, when breeding they should be conditioned for several days before moving to a breeding tank.

they must be moved from the breeding tank as soon as the eggs are scattered and fertilised as they WILL turn round and eat them.

2 gallons is too small, and you also need a heater. There is no magic time limit for the fish to breed. So you have a male and female, so what! They may breed in a week, a month, a year. They may never breed at all. Better tank conditions will give you a better chance of your fish breeding.

once your fish has eggs you need to put the fish and eggs in a seperate tank you can get breeding one's that clip on to the tank once the eggs have hatched the fish can go back in the normal tank then once the small fish have got bigger then put them in the big tank aswell
