I have my Beta Fish in a fish bowl in the bedroom. But it's pretty dark in there. even during the day. Should I put him out in the living room as long as I'm at work or will he be fine?

I would... mine is in the kitchen by the cookbooks and we have a skylight so its like daytime in the day and nighttime at night.... they need day and night just like we do......light is just as important to them as it is to you...smile

Fish, including bettas, do need a regular day / night cycle. Moving his bowl to a well lit room during the day would be a good idea.

Make sure you open the drapes during the day to give him natural light for the daytime period. They need a night and day light scenerio like all other animals.

What they need more than light, is heat. He should be in a regular fish tank with a heater.
