My family already has a big outside australian shepard. We want an inside dog that would stay small so that we can pick him/her up and carry around the house. What kind of dog is easily trained and fits these requirments? I really apreciate your answers! Thank you!

Can anyone give me help/tips to stop my dog chewing things please? I think he's doing it for attention or as a sign of affection or wanting to play but nothing is off limit to him, including my best trainers and antique chair legs at my parents' place. He even has a go at newly planted trees in the garden. Any help and sensible suggestions would be most appreciated!

I live in a complex which will allow me to have a dog if it is virtually silent. As I am at work during the day, I (and my manager) need to know that the dog will not disturb others while I am gone. Additionally, what are the immediate and long-term effects of 'de-barking'? What is debarking?

I wanted to let all who answered my question that one of the puppies died a few hours after I posted the question. I didn't think he would make it. He was the runt and the dehydration was so bad that his body just shut down. We had named them Buster and Brown. My step son kept calling one of them Baxter and so when Buster passed away we decided to call the other one Baxter. Didn't seem right for him to be Brown without his little brother Buster. Baxter is doing wonderfully. he is eating a little more, drinking more than he eats...lol, and barks and runs and sleeps. He is still dehydrated but is coming out of it. Talked to our vet Baxter goes monday for his first shots. Thank you all for your caring thoughts and ideas I tried most of them. Alot of them did wonders. Again I thank you all so very much.

Hi, I have a 11 week old shih Tzu and he isn't feeling well. Last night by son was coloring and he must have dropped a crayon and i caught my shih Tzu eating it. It was a red crayon, i think he ate about 75% of the crayon. The crayon is non- toxic.

He was fine last night, running and playing. However this morning I woke up at 6:30, and my Shih Tzu (Nico) was whining and struggling to poo. After 15 minutes of struggling he finally got out a hard piece of poo, it had pieces of red crayon in it. I thought he would be better now, but he is still constantly pooing little amounts, but you can tell he still wants to do more but can't get it out. Also his butt looks red and sore.

I already called my vet and a another vet, and they both told me to wait, because its just a upset stomach and he will pass it, but i am very worried because he is normally very active at this time, but now he is lying down and wants to be alone.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any expert advice?

I have a puppy that spends alot of his time outside. We have a fenced yard, (almost an acre), with lots of room to play and lots of toys. He is 8 months old. Our problem is this. The house behind ours has a poodle mix (small dog) that is not fenced or chained. (we have no city ordinance against dogs running free). I have caught that dog sitting at our back fence just staring at it. Then, one day, I caught my pup out. So, I walked the fence and found where he (poodle) dug him out. I know it was him, because the dirt was on the outside of the fence. Now, my pup does it while the other dog just sits there and watches. My question: I think the poodle is egging him on in dog language, telling him to come out and run with him, my b/f thinks I'm nuts, that dogs don't do that. What do you think?
My pup is a Chesepeake Bay Retriever (much bigger than the poodle mix). We also have a neighbor that puts his dog in our yard to play (with our permission), so he is not a lonely pup.

My best friend said it's the perfect dog for me. I'm not getting it, but I probably will when I'm older. I like the name Charr. But what do you think?

I get my puppy this afternoon. An 8 week old Boxer. I live in Wisconsin, so it's bitter cold. I am wondering what are a few of the things I should do in the first few days. Keep him on paper training, or try to place him outside when I see it coming? He will be crate training, but any advice is appreciated.

I heard walking him should come months later in life so he understands where HIS yard is, and where the rest of the world is and tell the difference. Is this true?

Dogs go on heat twice a year. Some say we need to give it a rest like people to gain health after giving birth. Is this true enough to believe which means that we skip, thus dogs can give birth only once a year. We are talking of the small breed dogs.

He's a 3 month old lab/retriever. We've had him for about a week. The recuse claims he's been dewormed and up to date on all his shots, 3 rounds of shots so far. We only feed him Iams puppy food and puppy biscuits as treats.
