Probably because she was rewarded for that behavior in the past. Any behavior (bringing a toy, performing tricks, pottying outside) will continue to happen as long as it is reinforced. So if she brings you a toy and you reward that by playing with her and the toy every once in a while, she'll keep on bringing you a toy!

My golden does this with every single person who comes to the door. It could be the mailman, UPS, just a visitor. If he hears the doorbell or a knock at the door, the first place he heads is to his "baby box" and grabs a furry baby and brings it to them. It's usually the biggest one he has-a 3 ft iguana or a big raccoon. :)

It's submissive behaviour. The dog respects you. He is giving
you is toy. He also probably would like you to play with him.

Think of it as something like a gift. My boyfriend's cat used to bring him live frogs. That....or she just wants to play, does she enjoy tug-of-war or fetch?

It's the dog's reminder to you to never fall asleep or you will face the same fate as this bear.

The dog hates you.

"Yo boss ... here's your dinner. Ain't I a good pack member?"

Or perhaps: "I want to play - will you play with me?"

Or (in the case of my dog): "I was playing with this toy and
then I heard you and I forgot to drop it so its in my mouth
and I have no clue how foolish I look..."

She wants you to play with her! Try throwing it for her, or playing a game of tug-o-war. She does this to get your attention.
