The only dog I've owned in the past was a dash-hound terra cross, but all dogs seem to love me anyway.

My 16yo poodle/schnouzer mix was diagnosed with kidney disease last yr. Please tell me anything more that I can do as his kidneys keep getting worse. His diet is Hill's Prescription diet for kidneys canned. His meds are: calcitriol 1.5ml and 3 azodyl pills a day for kidneys, Enalapril once daily for blood pressure, and cosequin ds daily for arthritis. I also give him 250ml of normal saline via subcutenous IV now twice a week. His hips and back legs suffer the most from bone loss and arthritis. But the vet said he'sin no pain from the kidney disease. But is there anything more I can do? I bought a bottle at a pet store to force him to drink more since the vet said to flush his kidneys. but theres increased protein in his urine and decreased in his blood. I just want to do all that I can to make him live as healthy as possibl. Should I force exercise should I force water more. Some nights he eats half his food should I force more? What else any other drugs I should give him? Anything pls

Last month my dacshund had a spot of skin peeling off her nose. I didnt think it was anything serious. She has had all her shots and everything. Now the skin on the bottom of her paws are peeling off. There are 2 places that dont have the skin anymore and they are bleeding. Could it just be dry skin or is it something serious? I cant afford to take her to the vet yet. Please help me!!!!

I currently own a miniature foxy X jack russell who lives with my parents. had her since i was 17 and now live in a town an hr away and never bought her with me as she's settled plus i wasn't allowed pets. I recently stuck in a request of pets to my landlord and i'm waiting for a reply (fingers crossed he lets me! the flat up from me has a cat so surely i can own a dog).

I am interested in a small dog like chloe my current dog. she's really smart, well trained and an indoor and outdoor dog. I trained her myself so i am expecting to be able to train another puppy rather well.

My yard is really small but I will take the dog on daily walks. I want a dog who's easy to maintain with fur length. isn't noisy, is small and loves affection as well as a play and is energetic enough after growing into adulthood. What other breeds apart from the fox terrier are suitable for my circumstances. thanks for your answers :-)

~Bones~ of any kind. They can splinter & puncture the trake or intestines or stomach or colon etc & can be fatal.Rawhide chewies are best but not for older dogs because they are harder to digest.
~Salt ~especially older dogs. Some dogfoods do not contain salt.We use Nutro senior.
~Chocolate~Is toxic & fatal,,can cause heart attack,,bad for nervous system,,liver & kidneys
~Grapes~ are toxic & can be fatal as is,,
~Raisins~&
~Onions~
~Dairy products~including milk cannot be digested as in humans
~No Spicey Foods~
~No Tomatos~ too acidy
~No Sugar~ can cause diabetes (including cookies & ice cream etc)
~No Bread~ turns into sugar
~Fruit ~ has no nutricianal value to a dog
~Small amount of potatoe occationally is ok
~Rice,,cooked veggies & boiled boneless beef/liver or chicken is good.Cool Completely. This is a good diet with a dog multi vitamin daily.

my 10 month old puppy (eats like a goat!) ate some dry rib bones while i turned my back (she's a little food theif thanks to my mother in-law)
its highly likely she swallowed them whole and they are about 1inch x 1/2 inch and fairly smooth. she is a large dog (70lbs)
she seems to be ok so far, and hasnt been vomiting.
my concern is will there be any damage to her digestive system? will they dissolve or will she pass them or will they splinter and cause damage?
going to the vet is so expensive!

I belong to a Chihuahua group and someone asked if the color of a chihuahua's foot pad means anything or does it really matter at all? And, are Chihuahau feet supposed to be cold, even when they are warm?

I'm down in the basement and all of a sudden my dog is growling with her tail between her legs and looking at the stairs. I don't see or hear anything, but she's freaking me out. She doesn't normally act like this. I'm the only one home, so nobody is upstairs.

My best-friend's dog is a 1 year old female beagle and is in heat, they found out she was in heat tuesday Feb. 27 and she says her parents let her out with a male dog. 1 short haired Chesapeake golden bay retriever. But i think they did that without knowing she was starting her heat. My friend says she noticed her being swollen today March 2. and she also says she thinks shes sore because her dog keeps licking herself. I will keep everyone updated if she sees more signs or somthing. Shes only 1 so she is pretty small and she is worried that if she gets pregnant the puppies will be to big and her puppy will die. shes my best-friend and i dont want to see her even more sad.. please help??

Its a healthy diet for a dog:
Rice (easier to digest than corn which is in most dog foods)
Veggies (cooked well,,preferably no salt peas)
Boiled boneless chicken,,beef or liver (if desired for flavor)
Cool completely before serving.
~We make a potful,,put in small bowls,,cool & refriderate.
Remove from fridge,,warm slightly,,bring to room tempurature,,feed pet.
~This was recommended by a good vet for my dogs. One inperticular that was born without a pancreus,,he lived a long healthy life & had energy to the end.
~It also is good because it doesnt contain salt/fat/dyes or additives.
I've raised over 60 dogs in the past & own 15 now.

My 5 month old lab/pitt puppy won't go potty. She hasn't since yesterday (36 hours ago) and she isn't eating either. She didn't touch a drop of her food this morning or this evening...she's been sleeping most of the day. She pees just fine it seems but isn't crapping or eating...We're gonna call the vet in the morning but what could be wrong with her? Is there anything we can do for her tonight?

She seems to be pretty playful once we get her going but is a little hard to engage her in it. She keeps going to the door as tho she needs to go potty but won't go once out there..

I have adopted five dogs from the local shelter. I recently adopted a female aussie mix who I was told had been spayed by the shelter. This is a really small hillbilly shelter with a high kill rate and horrible conditions. I took her to the vet the day after I adopted her for a health checkup, shots, etc and much surprise! he says she is pregnant, due in about three weeks. I called the shelter right away to find out if they would help me find homes for the pups, even with something as small as a courtesy posting on petfinder, and to let them know that I didn't appreciate them lying about her being spayed. Their responce was that they were going to take her away from me since I allowed her to mate, and she would have to be euthanized because they didn't have room for her or pups. I have already talked with my vet and the police. Since I have proof that I adopted her and then found out she was so far along I am protected. Any ideas on where to get help with placing the pups?

i want to go and get a dog this week. I looked on recycler, and saw some great deals. I saw an englis bulldog 8 weeks with all vaccinations for around 400. Then i saw a boxer that is a month old for around 400 as well. BTW, both are purebreed. I wanted to know which one is a better dog with less problems, shedding hair, etc. Moreover, becuase i am not experienced with picking dogs, i would like to know some tips on finding a healthy dog.

Thank you for any help...
