Last month my dacshund had a spot of skin peeling off her nose. I didnt think it was anything serious. She has had all her shots and everything. Now the skin on the bottom of her paws are peeling off. There are 2 places that dont have the skin anymore and they are bleeding. Could it just be dry skin or is it something serious? I cant afford to take her to the vet yet. Please help me!!!!

Do you live where it is cold enough to be frost bite? As that was my first thought..If not frost bite, do you use driveway chemicals or salt?

You can safely apply Aloe vera (pure) or emu oil to the areas.I would avoid salves...The light diaper rash ointment would be OK, but not the thick, pasty one.

If you determine that it could be a chemical, salt or frost/snow burn, then call the vet and ask for recommendations. Calls are free..

I have a mini foxy cross and she has the same prob every now and then where the skin on the top of her nose gets dry and peely and looks like its sore, we have a trampoline and thought it might be when she jumps under it and trys to get her ball she leaves on the top and her nose kinda scrapes on the material and we thought it might be burning her nose sort of like a carpet burn. Or then we also thought it might be just sunburn. So I tried putting sunscreen on it. And I also put a bit of moisturising cream on it. Its better now. If she llikes digging that might be the reason for the saw paws, and hot concrete as well might be the prob. Just try putting moisturising cream like vitamine E based or aloh vera based, and just a little bit no need to smuther her all over she will not like you 4 it, ehehe mine didnt anyway

Take her to the local pound and have the vet look at her. Explain that you don't have any money and she is in pain. Make it a necessary thing that must be done and perhaps they will help you? If not find a vet who does not charge a fortune. Some will give you special consideration. Try several. Call first.

Do you live in an area where the dog may have been around salt or other chemical for Icy conditions for sidewalks? Has she been around a yard that has been treated ...fertilized, weeded anything with chemicals? If so this may have caused a reaction and she may need to see a vet. "If it is a case of the salt on side walk". "For my dogs that have had a reaction". I wash their feet when they come in and use aloe lotion on them and it clears my dogs up. It is something I have tried. I am not telling you to do this It would be your decision. I just know it worked on my dogs...I say that because I don't know for sure what is causing the spot on your dogs nose for sure. I do know if you live in area where salt and chemical for ice is used it does effect some dogs and remember pads of a dogs feet heal inside out. so you have to keep them clean and wrapped with an antiseptic ointment where infection doesn't set in

if you cant afford a vet, try a local animal shelter that may be able to offer you free or discounted vet consultation, alternatively try and work out a payment plan with your own vet, most will usually agree as they do have the animals best interest at heart

Please remember to keep enough reserve money stashed away for emergencies so you can get medical care for your dog or yourself when you need it. Hate to see your poor dog suffer because you bought clothes or ate out too much last month.

Hope someone here can help you to help her. Sounds painful for her. If you can't get a good answer, how about taking her to the pet store and seeing if anybody there might have an answer/solution. Good luck, sweetie.

i don't like to give bad news but, the symptoms you describe sound like LUPUS. of course it could be many other things, such as allergies, something inside or outside she's coming in contact with, even the kind of soap you wash her with. but please look up canine lupus on the net. loss of hair around the nose, mouth and bottom of paws are signs of lupus. good luck to both of you. let us know how she's doing.
