I currently own a miniature foxy X jack russell who lives with my parents. had her since i was 17 and now live in a town an hr away and never bought her with me as she's settled plus i wasn't allowed pets. I recently stuck in a request of pets to my landlord and i'm waiting for a reply (fingers crossed he lets me! the flat up from me has a cat so surely i can own a dog).

I am interested in a small dog like chloe my current dog. she's really smart, well trained and an indoor and outdoor dog. I trained her myself so i am expecting to be able to train another puppy rather well.

My yard is really small but I will take the dog on daily walks. I want a dog who's easy to maintain with fur length. isn't noisy, is small and loves affection as well as a play and is energetic enough after growing into adulthood. What other breeds apart from the fox terrier are suitable for my circumstances. thanks for your answers :-)

Ah silly spelling mistake - bread. no need to be a smart **** to that rude person. and secondly i already said i can't have my own dog. shes settled where she is and the move would be unsettling for her. on the side, my parents are also very attached and shes spoilt rotten and i'd prefer keep her happily where she is and find myself a new dog to entertain me and give a good home to...

I think any small dog would suit you just fine. Sounds to me like you know what you are doing as far as training. I'd like to commend you for thinking more about how your dog would react to the move if you just went and got her rather than just thinking of what you want. I think any dog will be lucky to have you! Good luck and god bless!

SLOW DOWN!! First of all don't jump the gun. You should never bring a pet home to a place that doesn't allow pets!!

Your neighbor may have a cat, but are they suppose to? If not, you just put them and the cat in jeopardy. Not, only that if they do accept pets it may be only cats or small animals.

You have made the choice to live an area that does not accept pets!! If you want pets, then why did you move there?

Many people move into areas that don't accept pets and the animals end up homeless or at a shelter/rescue. People don't seem to check before they move and the pet ends up suffering the consequences.

Many animals end up homeless every year. Whatever the decision your landlord gives you, you must accept. Don't get your hopes up to high, they usually don't change their mind. If they change the rules for one person, they would have to change it for other people. Wait until you have the answer. Good Luck!!

FYI: There are many animals that need a loving, forever home at your local animal shelter and rescue groups. You can go to: http://www.mypetnanny.info/PD/index.htm Select shelter or rescues and find your area. They can also help you figure out which pet would be best for what you are wanting/needing.

There are millions of animals euthanized every year because there are not enough homes for them all.

Save a life, look at the dogs in an animal shelter that desperately need a home. Most r already housebroken, spayed or neutered, have current shots and u get to see their behavior before u take it home. The shelter people may be able to fill u in on some background of the dog and the choices r plentiful, everything from pure breed to mixed. Take a chance, u won`t be sorry.

Pugs have a lot of health problems.

I love the idea of getting a dog from the shelter. You may want to put your name on a waiting list while your landlord is deciding. They normally don't have many small dogs come in.

I have a Lhasa Apso. She is perfect. She was raised as a dog park dog so she is convinced she is a big dog. She fetches, swims, wrestles. She is also incredibly smart- sit, stay, rollover, play dead, dance... she does it all. She even gets the pointing thing. Only dog I know who understands to follow the dirction of your finger. She even rings a bell when she needs to go outside.

She is a non-shedding dog so her coat grows continuosly. I get her cut in a puppy cut every 3-4 months.

I try to take her on a walk every day. If we can't she normally chases the ball around the house like a maniac for a little while and then calms down.

why not try a local shelter instead, they often have purebreds, and even those that aren't are still starved for affection and need good homes. they have dogs of all ages. not to mention you usually get a history of the dog like how active it is and how noisy is is ect... which is always good because even if you get a breed that's know to not bark or somethng it's all in the individual dog really, and when you get a puppy you never know what it's going to be like.

I recommend a pug if you are going to be around alot. Pugs are lapdogs...bred to be companion dogs. So they need to be close to you but will be depressed if you leave them all day to go to work. I am a stay at home mom so my pug fits our life. Pugs are quiet, but do shed alot. They are also loyal and protective. They are the sweetest little dogs...wouldnt have any other. They only health problem that I have encountered is just making sure their eyes are taken care of. They dont have a nose that blocks dust and dirt so it goes into their eyes.

just because someone has a cat,, isn't a reason to assume you will be allowed to have a dog...... but you might like manchester terrier,, whippet,, i suggest you go to ukc.org and read about all the breeds - from that site you will be able to make an informed decision about which breed is best for you..... ( i also like Cavalier king charles spaniels ALOT)

Get yourself a "Pug".. small, weighs nothing more than 42 pounds when healthy and the bark if that's what you want to call is about a volume 2 on your television set. Great with kids, a very good watch dog and easy to train.. oh yeah, and they do listen very intentative to you..

Shih-tzus are pretty trainable and are small. But they have long coats but you can just trim them every other month and it will not get too bad. But they only have to when they are trained go pee every 5-6 hours. They also can hold their bladder through the night if they are an grown up. But they are also playfull and loving when they are grown up too!
