My shepherd/husky has been acting very wierd lately by destroying full bags of dog food, pushing the food in his dog bowl all over the garage where he sleeps at night, shaking, and whining after he comes in for the night. This was never a problem before but in addition to that, we have a 1yr old.

Does any of this have to do with his age or his breed and can anyone offer suggestions. I can't leave him or our beagle/cocker spanial in the house alone because they are lifting their leg on the carpet and with a new baby in the house, I don't want her to come in contact with it and touch her toys, put fingers in her mouth etc..... I am so scared that this will not go away and would have to consider putting him down for fear that he could hurt himself another way.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions - he really is a beautiful and loving dog.

I guess I've been neglecting to brush my dog's teeth and now there's some visible plaque on her back teeth. Besides the obvious cosmetic benefits, is there any other reason to get a teeth cleaning for her? If I should, how often should teeth cleanings be? Thanks in advance

I just got a new puppy. She is a tiny white chihuahua with very light tan markings surrounding her eyes. I'm trying to think of names for her, but I don't want to name her real people names and I don't want to name her something stupid like "Princess". I just introuced her to my 4 year old terrier Peewee, and I was thinking Dottie might be an appropriate name to go with him.

My dog has started acting weird today. She got accidentlly pregnant about 2-3 months ago (i know it usually takes 2 month.) and she was about 8-9 month old. (i know she's pregnant because her niimples are getting huge, her boobbs are getting fatter, and so is her belly.) Today she was very tired, she wouldn't eat anything but a bit of treats, and she would not stop panting, winning, and shaking since this afternoon. does any body know what's going on?

thanks you for your help!! :)

I am getting a 4 month old Papillon puppy and she's not fully house broken. I am considering crate training her or keeping her in my kitchen with a baby gate and litter box training her. I know that both options have certain drawbacks. Is it possible to do both? I would be inclinded to lean towards litter box training her so that I could have her go inside if I am forced to leave her for a long period of time or am traveling with her.

sensible opinions because I don't want to put my pet through
unnecessary pain.

My 3-year-old Golden Retreiver, Rio, has a very annoying barking howl thing he does. He usually does it when we put him in the garage at night and when he's laying around outside. My neighbors have commented on it (wondering if he's alright) and they find it annoying. I don't think it's because he's separated from us because on occasion he'll do it when he's in the house with us (and he will stop when we say his name). The worst time was when a local female was in heat and he wanted to be with her (We had the him neutred but only the one that dropped was removed and the vet said the other would be absorbed. That didn't happen so he's been fixed twice). Anywhy, what's the best inexpensive method to use?

My 1.5 year old beagle has had slimy clear mucus (gross i know) in her stool the past couple of days. I have been giving her a rawhide or two everyday, and she chews them, and eats them within 5-10 minutes. Can too many rawhides cause the mucus? I think I have heard that before but I am not sure. Will feeding her rice and chicken help calm her stomache?

Our dog is normally unafraid of anything, except riding in a car. What can we try that doesn't involve drugs? Any natural foods or remedies that might work? We previously had a Golden for 10 years who loved car rides, so we're a little at a loss.

My dog has been fixed for more than a year. She had her period once, and then when it was over we had her fixed. Ever since we got her fixed she's been letting out some clear vaginal discharge that smells awful. She only does it when she is excited and only on certain things like her favorite couch, my car seats, and when she sees people pass by our front yard. I know it's not pee because I see her licking her her vaginal area after the discharge. Is this normal? I have a smaller dog, and she doesn't do this. I just thought maybe it's a big dog issue. Anyone else experience this with their female dogs?

My dog like to rush right up to the front of the car when I'm driving up the driveway. She sometimes even sits right in front of the car and refuses to move, even when we honk the horn. It's very dangerous and annoying. What can I do to stop her from doing that?

My pom is eight months old and started her first heat cycle. She used to love eating her food and finish her food very quickly (just in a few seconds), but now her food no longer interests her. she doesn't even touch her food unless i handfeed her, but she eats very slowly and doesn't seem to enjoy eating. Will she go back to normal after the heat cycle?
