my dogs eat the pure rawhide and they cause alot of Gas but the mucus is probably from his diet and he may have an irritible bowel. try some pepto bismo 3 times a day for a few days.that helps calm the system. just hold his lip open and pour a small amount in the lip and rub his neck to make him swallow and keep a towel under the neck while giving it. never pour it straight down the throat can choke them . lean hamburger or boiled chicken or lean turkey and rice are good in small amounts to clear this up

Rawhide is never a good treat for dogs. They wreak havoc on the digestive system. Another problem with rawhide is that it expands quite a bit when it is rehydrate. The result is that your dog may eat a decent amount of the rawhide before expansion and end up with a bloated stomach when it expands.
Also it can cause constipation, choking or even a twisted digestive tract which is very serious and can be deadly.
I would take him to a vet ASAP!!!

Rawhides are really not a good "chew toy" for dogs. The 'mucus" you refer to is probably bacteria and undigested rawhide. The bacteria is a response to irritation and infection along the digestive tract.Especilly bad are "pigs ears" form of chew,as these have sharp edges that dont pass well and all rawhides are difficult to digest and pass.It is not uncommon for these to have to be surgically removed or other invasive action taken by a vet to relieve a problem caused by rawhide chews.Consult with a vet about better choices (a phone call wont even cost anything!) of chews and toys to occupy your dog.The purpose of chews is to offset boredom and help the dog with a natural way to massage teeth and gums-not to be done excessively or as a food supplement.Good luck and Goodbye rawhides!

Rawhide is really bad for dogs stomachs, I know, why would they market it if that were so? Just to make money, anyway, yeah that's the problem and you should stop feeding them to your dog, there are other options like pigs feet, pigs ears, bull penises and so on that are not rawhide. If you change your dogs diet to fast by introducing new food to quickly that can also cause runny stools. Try feeding your dog new foods by mixing in the old for a few days. If the stools still are in a runny consistency I'd suggest going to the vet and getting your dog checked for worms and the such.

I can't say for sure, but possibly. Call your vet and see if you can get them to advise you without having to make the trip into the office.
My advice: Ditch the rawhides and give her natural treats like pigears, beef tendons, chicken jerky etc.
We used to give our dogs rawhides as much as you do but when I found out that the chemical treatments used on them were so harsh to a dog's system (especially our little dogs) I switched over to natural treats. IMHO, the dogs prefer them too.
Good luck!

She may have a butt worm. You may want to take her to the vet, just in case. Feeding her rice and chicken will not calm her stomach. Dogs cannot digest rice and cooked meet isn't to great either.
